Excellent my friend.
I appreciate your good reply, Jack. Thank you. These are my first Bald Eagle photos taken
with my Canon 400 II f/4 prime lens which I just bought Wednesday.

Photographer, gear and patience, all put together to make a great photograph. Well done.
Well said. All that you mentioned and a little bit of luck.
Thank you very much, Millismote, for your good comment.

Phenomenal shot and I think he/she is looking lovingly at you! :)
Lovingly or menacing because I kept getting closer to the eagle.
Thank you very much, pithydoug, for your good reply.
Regis ..., like putting the Angel on the top of the tree .. this shot caps off an amazing photographic journey you have given us all year .. That 50 + mega pixel camera ... and your talents have merged together in awesomeness ..... this shot belongs in National Geographic ...I download maybe 10 shots a year .. this is one .. a keeper ....!
Have a Merry Christmas .. Happy Holidays .. and a Merry New Year ..

Regis it's wonderful. Are you really hand holding this lens too? Have you tried BIF with this camera and the longer lens? From my reading it has been mentioned that with all those pixels even the slightest movement is apparent. You've nailed the stills but have you had luck with moving subjects?
I just bought this lens last Wednesday, so I haven't had a chance to try the BIF shots. When it's 10-15 degrees here, it hard enough just
to press the shutter button with my cold fingers at a flying eagle. When it warms up, I'll try the BIF captures.
Yes, I still hand hold my photos. This prime lens is small (same length as my Canon 100-400 II and only about 1 pound heavier).
Because of the small length and fair lightness (4.6 lbs.) plus the 4 stop stabilization, the good balance gives me steady hand held shots.
I haven't had any blurred photos yet.
Thank you very much, cmc65, for your good inform-able reply.
All are so beautiful, Regis and this one is no exception!

Hopefully my photos will get better and sharper with my new lens as time and good weather prevails. So far so good.
I appreciate your great comment concerning the National Geographic scenario, but their their photos are the best and
I am not in their league yet.
I appreciate your great comment, Dr. Nikon. Thank you and a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you.
