A couple from my Devon stay for your consideration - how do you like the processing (no composites here, just a bit of pp) - unless you count a filter as composite??
The Photographer - the child stayed balanced for a few seconds, then decided to sit down - wiser than Dad!

I like the pp of both images, #2 being my favorite. You should take care of the horizon haloing in #1 though.

Thanks Frank. Yes, the halo is annoying, a result of Lr that will probably be better corrected in Ps.
#1 is dramatic and interesting, though the white spots (lichen?) on the rocks are distracting. I'd be interested in seeing a version with those subdued. The little people are a great element for scale. Glad to hear the kid survived
#2 is appealing for the gentle, quiet mood. It almost looks like a slight greenish cast, rather than yellow or orange but could be my monitor.
Yes, the spots are typical of the area Linda.
The cast may be from a filter - I don't recall exactly what I did now as I dump the workings to reduce the file size, but I know it's been in Ps.

Both are nice images, entirely different takes on the location but equally effective.
The first, as SharpEyes has said, needs attention to the haloing. Some of it could be resolved by backing off the sky-darkening a bit, but some will probably require brushwork in PS to contain. I really like the lichen spots, and might even try to make more of them in some way. They give the image a little more of a quirky feel than the pair on the rocks who are pretty quirky in their own right. There's a lot of fun to be had with this image.
The second seems to be a color-filter interpretation, which I have no objection to, it is tiptoing into Art, which is fine with me, I love artistic interpretations though not everyone does as we are frequently reminded. I'd be tempted to dabble in a bit of texture for it as well. No supermoon though, please, that one is doing just fine up there.
Thanks for an interesting pair.

I can't think of any from the past, or imagine photo yet to come, that could rival No. 1 for Photo of the Month.
Both are very good, but number 1 is a standout to me, good job!

Thanks for the critique Min, I'm glad you approve.

Nice of you to say so Neil. Funny how we are our own worst critics, I um and ah about whether it's worth posting, see the faults, hear the critique - then decide not to post! These two have been rattling around in my Best of Devon collection for a while now.

Following a pm chat with Frank, who had come-up with a de-haloed version for me, I decided to put it right from where it went wrong. I reset the original file in Lr and made some adjustments, then, HORROR! I realised this is a composite! I'd forgotten all about the fact - to get the photographers pose and the nippers pose the way I wanted, I'd composited the nipper from another otherwise identical shot! Myapologies for misleading everyone! Here's the revamp, sans halo.

Dave you've done an admirable job with the halo but lost that dramatic lighting feel I got from the first version.....maybe somewhere in between the two.

I fully agree! I'll take the first one. Don't know about my phrasing, but you lost the "soul" of the image somewhere along the line.

Hmm.... I think it's just the lights, both rocks and sky, I'll see what I can do, but won't post again, it must be getting boring!
