Congratulations! What a wonderful birthday present. Nothing like the smell of new gear. :-)

Too bad you have to wait until Thursday for the lens to arrive. Must be a heartbreaker to have the body and no way to use it yet. Use the time to familiarize yourself with the menus and operating proceedures so when the lens does arrive, you can make use of this new toy. Hope to see some pics posted soon.

Control, I have no control. I'm at work and my wife just sent me this photo....can't wait to get home

Your wife sounds wicked. Mi wife would like her.

I would like your wife too. (Wicked Witch from Wizard of Oz laugh in the background!)

That's too funny. My wife did the same thing (sent a text message photo) when my D4 arrived two Saturdays ago. Happy Birthday and ENJOY! Oh yeah, welcome to the world of Nikon!!

OH yes, welcome to Nikon! You guys are way ahead of me...I have a D7000, D300s and a D90. My husband would kill me if I bought another camera.

LOL. I ordered both at the same time two months ago but I guess I'm further down the list for the camera. B&H says they are getting cameras in larger numbers and more frequently now so I hope I get the D800 before my August vacation. I sold my D700 and D3s to get this camera w/ grip, RRS L-bracket, and a Sigma 12-24 Lens. I now have everything but the camera. Thankfully I can still use my wife's D300s.

I am envious, however I will have one soon enough. Coming up very soon is a class on the D800 put on by Creative Live and should be good.

Shot my first wedding with my D800/28-300mm/50mm combo a couple weeks ago. It's so easy getting this thing to take sharp and well balance shots. I feel like I can rule the world now!
