It is UPS taking shortcuts. I ordered a Nikon D810 from B&H. Their shipping page stated I would have to sign for the package. I tracked the shipping of the order on the UPS site. The UPS site indicated I would have to sign for the delivery. On the day if the delivery, I received an email from UPS that the package was signed for when delivered. I ran to the front porch and found the package set on the top step. I was the only one home and never signed nor was there even a knock at the door. If I have a valuable delivery coming via UPS, I now notify them that I will pick it up at their distribution center.

That camera is about $650. Check with UPS, but I think their policy is that something that expensive requires a signature.

LOL, so Gene, have you actually told your wife yet?!
If my wife were an attorney and I told her that, she would laugh until she fell on her ass over my STUPIDITY!!
Maybe your wife is probably used to bailing your ass out of your jams.

A better solution, seeing where this has gotten you, is to just buy another camera(try like HELL to be home this time), and when the other mess is finally settled, simply return it for a refund!!!

I can fully see why a neighbor would not help you out...., if they made any mistakes, they would promptly be sued by a hot-head..., I would MOVE AWAY!!! LoL

This is not the fault of Adorama, but it is your fault sir. You didn't notify anyone in advance of your schedule. I have dealt with deliveries with companies, UPS and FedEx for over 40 years and have not had the problem you have described with anyone. Suck it up and LEARN something from your experience instead of directing blame elsewhere.

A month ago I decided to purchase a LUMIX LX 100. Theee weeks ago, based on previous positive experiences I ordered it from Adorama. I got a notice from UPS that it would be delivered on Friday, 3 weeks ago today. Knowing I wouldn't be home that weekend and would miss the delivery I called Adorama and asked they delay the delivery until the following Monday. They said it had already shipped and couldn't change anything. I then contacted UPS who told me they couldn't do anything until the delivery was made and if no one answered they driver would leave a tag and I should call back with the tag number. Well, when I returned Monday, there was no tag and no box. Obviously UPS just decided to drop it at my front door with no signature and someone helped themselves to it. I called Adorama and they said they would have to go through the UPS claims scenario. Last Monday I was told by Adorama that UPS determined it was a successful delivery. How, I don't know since no one signed for it. I told them this was unacceptable to which they responded they would reopen the case with UPS and it would be another 2 weeks. I told them what they could do and I was calling my credit card company to dispute it as well as turning it over to my attorney who happens to be my wife. Meanwhile, there has been zero communication from Adorama. 4 weeks is outrageous.

I don't know if there is anyone on this website from Adorama but you just lost a sale and a customer. Plus, I will NEVER recommmend your company....ever. If anyone else else on here has had this experience you can understand how frustrating it is. Monday I'm going to purchase from B&H. Adorama....This is NOT how to run a business. Apparently you just don't care.

Seems to me that you have a great deal of responsibility for your problems with this camera delivery. It is not the seller or the shippers fault that you could not be there to receive your delivery AFTER you had already placed the order. Did you leave the UPS driver a note at your door? That usually works. You complain that you have not heard from Adorama in 4 weeks. Let's see, in your last conversation with them you told them you were going to stop payment on your credit card and that you were turning the situation over to an attorney. What did you expect them to do, give you a cocktail party?

Would you like some cheese with that little whine?

That's you. I don't have that option.

You don't have an option for personal responsibility? Really? If that is the case than you had better get your parents to place the orders for you from now on.

I,ve had Fed Ex pull the same fraud but I got the package so I didn't follow through with it. But it is really fraud and forgery and the law should get involved and prosecute for it.

Same identical thing happened to me. Dropped off at my door.Item was over $1000.00 and UPS notified me it was delivered and signed for. I live in a senior highrise. It was left outside my door and anyone could have taken it. I would have heard a knock at my door so that means they didn't even bother to knock.

How in the bloody heckaloonies can a store after they completed the transaction, got the package to a shipper, shipper accepted the package can it be their responsibility to insure it gets to the right place? Puh lease explain that one oh great one. Once UPS took possession of the package it fell to them to get it to the receiving party.

What a tome this has become......

If Adorama doesn't request signature then it's their responsibility if a package disappears. What happens if you're home and don't hear the UPS delivery and the package is dropped off then is stollen??

UPS took possession of an item to deliver from the owner to the soon to be new owner. UPS did not take ownership of the item. The transaction is not complete until the purchaser has the item safe in their hands. (simplified) Similar to a store, the item isn't yours because you placed it in your cart. The cart could be considered UPS, except in this case, your the driver and will take far better care of item during shipment to the cashier.. o.O well you get the idea anyway, but I'm not lawyer and not all laws are logical around here...

Edit: It's not the stores responcibility to get it there, that is the carriers job. But it is still the stores item and problem to deal with.

I think this thread has the potential for 20 pages. Let's keep this going folks and see where we can get. Oh, remember, there shouldn't be anything factual in your post, and, if you have no formal legal training, be sure to quote the law even if it's not applicable to this case. Carry on!
