Only consider ones with a viewfinder.

The weight and vibration issues are intriguing solutions. The proposed Nikon with 24 mp at maybe $1600 could be a winner.
They will replace the larger slr cameras , all the effort is going into smaller and better

Thanks all. I am leaning toward Sony NEX 5N. Price seems reasonable and able to use my old Nikor lenses with adapter.
You might want to check out the new Sony nex-F3 coming out this month.same sensor as the nex-5 but a faster processer,
flash is much improved,so is ISO.

If you're talking EVIL cameras, to me, they're a joke. Just another way to make money by giving "snappers" the idea that changing lenses will make their photos better when 90% of any good photo is because of the photographer.
No view finder? Come on. Again, a "snappers" tool because when you watch snappers holding the camera, regardless of model, out in front of their face by a foot or more to get the "shot", it's not only poor technique but they're not getting an accurate through the lens look at the subject.
Video, of course, that's a different matter because the dslr mirror has to be up but an add on view finder solves that problem. I have one and it's great!
What makes you think a Sony NEX 5N or new NEX 7 (for instance- and I own)
have no viewfinders? Hell, I can use my Leica glass and the viewfinder has
electronic focus conformation. The photos are as good as my EOS-1 Ds!!!
I use my NEX-7 almost all the time now and is a joy to carry.... small and light.
I seldom use the M-9 anymore because the Sony is such a joy to use. I have
been a photographer for fifty years and have used about everything.
I have a Nikon 1 V1 and have been very pleased with it. The Nikon CX Camera section of Nikon Cafe has lots of posts about it and photos.
According to comparison reviews on the mirrorless versus DSLR the DSLR wins on image quality. Read the reviews, seems like a no brainer to me.

Thanks Rich, couldn't agree more.

Could cite a couple to which you refer? What seems to make the difference, if you recall?
Don't ever underestimate new technology. SONY has deep pockets and could buy NIKON, PENTAX, OLYMPUS and some of the others if they wanted to.
Mirrorless, I think, is here to stay and will only get better.
