Could cite a couple to which you refer? What seems to make the difference, if you recall?
As I recall the reviews were in Shutterbug mag or Popular Photography mag, or on some online sites.
evil is a farliy new technology thats getting better all the time upcoming models will have viewfinders and better image quality than slrs , they are catching slr's very fast and with-in the next year pass them . i would rather have a star trek communicator than a m.a.s.h walkie talkie

Thanks all. I am leaning toward Sony NEX 5N. Price seems reasonable and able to use my old Nikor lenses with adapter.
I have the NEX 5N and am having lots of fun with it, mainly for the reason you mention here. I have many old, excellent quality lenses that I can use with the adapters. I thought I'd have to retire all of the glass from my film cameras, but now my old Nikon, Topcon and Zeiss lenses have been given a new lease on life. The focus peaking on the NEX cameras makes using manual focus very easy.
As much as I hated paying for the add-on viewfinder (seemed quite expensive for such a little thing), I think it makes the camera much better. The NEX 7 wasn't out when I got mine, it has the built in viewfinder and higher resolution sensor. I think it would be a great option for not a lot more money than the 5N + viewfinder.
Wait till the noise gets as good as the slr's. Who knows, they may be the future.
So I just heard about the big drop in Sony stock over the w/e. Am I reafing to much into it, or is a Sony still going to be a good deal? When I bought my Minolta 9Xi...it was one of the better cameras, but then after a few years they sold out to Sony. Just don't want another similar situation, especially since I'll be spending $700 plus. Opinions?
I can't remember right now but don't the Minolta lenses use the
same mount as the NEX?
Unsure about the NEX series. Have been told Minolta glass will match up with the Sony A-series.
Yes, I believe you are right.
But, I do have an adapter that puts the other Sony lenses
on the NEX.

About a month ago I got the Nikon P510 and have been very pleased with most everything it does.
But to be clear, it is a bridge point and shoot.
No interchangeable lenses. Not a "mirrorless camera" by any definition.
Sure is handy, lightweight, and got to love that 42X zoom though.
Gee, I know nothing about this camera but I sure am glad you
like it. This "mirror-less" thing is on the move and will become
even better. When you can remove the bulk and clap-trap of a flapping expensive mechanical mirror and achieve the same or
better results .... that is a good and far less expensive thing. Smaller, lighter, and actually more accurate.
In 1960 it took a room to house a computer now it sits on you lap . mirrorless technology is still in it's early stage soon the the big heavy camer's will be with the 33 lp's

Thanks Rich, couldn't agree more.
Exactly. And, I forgot to mention getting rid of that heavy
expensive pentaprism and optical viewfinder as well.

Yes it's a bridge P&S but it is a mirrorless, look up the definition at B&H

Hey, I'm seldom right about much of anything (!), so I have no problem apologizing for incorrect info. I must admit I'm confused because I just looked at B&H's website, at every "mirrorless camera system" but only found the P510 in the Point & Shoot section. Where's this definition you're referring to? Where should I look?
A snap shooter only needs a good quality P&S or Bridge Type
to produce a proper IQ for a snapper.
A good photographer needs a higher quality DSLR to produce
very hi IQ photos. Also a "good" snap shooter does not need
a hi quality camera to produce "very good" snap shots.
The final results depend upon the operator no mater what camera type, except no i-phones included.
I and my wife use both types..Mirror or no mirror..
