Refurbishing will not reset the shutter count and I doubt that anyone would pull it out of the box and fire it up to let you know. They do however get a much better look than the ones that roll off of the assembly line. I have purchased two refurbed Nikons. One from Ebay and the other from Cameta Camera. My 7100 came with something like 39 clicks on the shutter and works fine except for occasional operator error.

Good luck but don't be surprised if the 7200 makes shows the limitations of your current glass.

Nikon will have done the refurb and the camera will be very close to a 10 rating on a 10 scale. I wouldn't be overly concerned about the shutter count after a Nikon refurb.

Why would the D7200 show limitations of his current glass? Just curious.

You know Dave, brain farts are common in my head. I was probably thinking about something with a larger sensor which wouldn't be the case here. So feel free to disregard.

I have previously purchased a refurbished D7200 from Adorama. All refurbs are done by Nikon themselves so purchasing from reputable dealers such as adorama, bh, etc are always a good idea or even from nikon themselves as they often run discounts on refurbs. Cameras are practically new. Mine only had about 1000 clicks, which is great. This experience sold me on refurbs as the way to go untill I got a gas attack abd purchased a new d500, which I love. Didnt have the patience to wait until d500's started showing up as refurbs but in the future will exercise better patience. Although i think I am more than satisfied with this camera and will keep it for quite some time.

I bought a D7100 body refurb from B&H. When I got it it had a shutter count of 8. I'm Glad I did it. It has worked flawlessly. Love the camera.

Good shooting

When the full frame D750 was recalled because of shutter issues and repaired/replaced, Nikon did not reset the shutter counts. Perhaps so with any refurbished, DX or FX cameras.

I feel your pain! LOL! I went on a long photo op yesterday morning, moved limbs and brush in the afternoon and had a photo club meeting last night,so I wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed. I try to keep up and thought maybe I missed something something. It doesn't take much!

I upgraded from a D3100 to a D7200, and all lenses work on the D7200. The D7200 also has a focus motor in the body for lenses that require that. Just remember to turn the switch ON on the body as well as the lens. You'll love the D7200.

The refurbished units from Nikon have been excellent purchases for me in the past. I bought a refurbed D7200 in March of this year and it had 15 clicks on the shutter. Right now Cameta Camera has the D7200 for sale at $799. They are factory refurbished and Cameta includes a nine month extension to the Nikon 90 day warranty to give you up to a year. That price is about as competitive as you can get and the D7200 is one great body. Good luck with your purchase.

Go for it, but the shutter count is unlikely to be 0. Nikon doesn't reset shutter counts.

Nikon refurbished are well worth it. I puchased a Nikon 1 J3 from Beach Camera. It had 12 clicks on it and appeared brand new. Only praise for refurbs.

Perhaps a silly question but where do you find a shutter click count on the 7200?

Hi Chuck,

Over the years I've purchased 4 Nikon refurbished cameras and they all have in like-new condition. None if them had more than about 75 clicks on their shutters. Take care & ...
