Installed Sierra as soon as it was available, also installed the latest Adobe CC updates before installing Sierra - zero issues so far - Sierra runs fine on my iMac as does Photoshop & Lightroom. I use Lightroom and Photoshop on my iMac everyday.

Exactly the same results here, except that, based upon Laura Shoe's comments a week ago, I upgraded to Sierra two days ago. All is well, at least so far.

My big concern os Aperture. Will it work with Sierra because my whole library is there and would be a disaster to lose it? I think I will wait a while to be sure no other issues arise. Bought my iMac on 12/26/2011.

Mrmal, you could try exporting a copy of your Aperture library to the cloud or a separate disc to protect the image files. That may be a help if you ever decide to move to LR, given that Apple won't support Aperture going forward.

I Totally agree, iphone with the new upgrade to 10 is absolutely horrible. All kinds of issues. I think they had better get their act together or they will loose a lot of customers.

I've updated my iMac & my MacBook Pro as well as Lightroom & Photoshop. No problems so far.

Selling over a billion iPhones in nine years is pretty big news, and when they're able to keep selling them, despite Wall Street analysts' doom and gloom predictions, that's important.

I can still remember rolling on the floor laughing at Steve Ballmer pooh-pooing the iPhone, along with the CEOs of RIM, Nokia, and Ericsson. They never admitted they had been HAD. iPhones disrupted many industries and changed the world.

As did the Newton, I mean iPad a few years later...

I just read an article indicating that the Sierra operating system is causing all kinds of compatibility issues with Lightroom and Photoshop on the Mac computers.

I installed Apple's. IOS 10.0.2 on my iPad a couple of days ago and it has caused several problems with my apps. It also has a most ridiculous way to start the iPad. I suggest that you skip downloading this upgrade if you can. Apple support has been unable to resolve the issues.

A while ago, Apples "important" OS upgrade for my iPad made it run 3x slower. It now comes to a crawl many times during Internet connectivity. My Network is fine. They (Apple store techs) could not resolve it and specifically narrowed problem to the upgrade, which made my iPad run worse, not better. The Upgrade was simply corrupt, undebugged code that Apple released with pathetic quality control.

I switched to Adobe back in 2014 when Apple announced the end of support for Aperture. I still use Aperture occasionally to find a legacy file, because it's easier using Aperture because the Aperture search tools are more powerful. Aperture still works on Sierra, for now. But there is a MacOS file system upgrade coming in the future and it's very likely Aperture won't work after that.

If it would be a disaster to lose access to you library you are advised to do one of three things:
(1) Never ever update your OS again, and pray you're hardware lasts forever.
(2) Take steps now to export all your versions and any managed files and hope for the best in the future.
(3) Do the smart thing and find and adopt a new cataloging and editing program now while Aperture still works.

Or you could just do nothing and then complain about it here when Aperture eventually stops working.

Good to know. I'm running LR 5.7 (I don't make enough use of it to justify the subscription costs) and Mac OS 10.10. Guess I won't be upgrading my OS for a while!

Sierra drops support for older macs which may be a good thing, should drop prices a little, breaking photoshop and lightroom prior to 6.7 is a negative too.

I bought lightroom 5.7 around 14 months ago so now breaking even. The standalone version of lightroom 6.7 can be upgraded to from Lightroom5 for $79 or so depending on local taxes.

However Sierra doesn't bring that much to make it worth upgrading to, Siri voice recognition so maybe you can talk instead of type. If you buy an Apple watch you will be able to get to your desktop without typing your password. You can store more stuff on the cloud but you may need to pay for a subscription to icloud storage. Maybe more from apple music but then again that works on earlier versions of osx.

Currently i have free ntfs read and write support from paragon I would need to buy that too. Does nik work on sierra?

Over all i'm not seeing any advantage to Sierra other than Siri and I already know how to type!

It is such a shame that Apple seems to be losing it's way again. There seems to be more cons than pro's with Sierra, it is going to take some convincing to get me to "upgrade".

Nik works fine for me on Sierra. I just opened several tools stand alone and then closed them and opened again from within Lightroom.

I don't see more cons than pros with Sierra. Sierra installed flawlessly and I have had zero problems with it. But then I like keeping my software and hardware up do date. Some of the changes are "under the hood". For example Apple is preparing for a long awaited file system upgrade, which will be implemented in an upcoming release of Sierra. Read some of the articles on the computer sites/magazines if your interested in more details on improvements/changes made in Sierra.

Bear in mind all new OS software on any system runs the risk of incompatibilities with existing programs. That's why people who have software they can't live without hold off util the software vendor provides verification that the new OS is compatible and supported.

Yes indeed, I use Lightroom, Photoshop, Nik Plugins, Topaz Plugins, MacPhun Plugins, Jeffery Friedl's Lightroom Plugins, Show Focus Points plugin, Lenstagger Plugins, Spektral Art Plugins, most almost daily, not a single problem yet after moving to Sierra, plus things seem a little snappier under Sierra as well.

You are correct, some mileage may vary depending on the hardware and existing programs, but in the end for me it is worthwhile to stay current, software and OS wise in my opinion.

Over the years, it seems most computer publications publish what they believe will sell, not necessarily the truth, like political based articles these days :sm1:
