I just read an article indicating that the Sierra operating system is causing all kinds of compatibility issues with Lightroom and Photoshop on the Mac computers.

I installed Apple's. IOS 10.0.2 on my iPad a couple of days ago and it has caused several problems with my apps. It also has a most ridiculous way to start the iPad. I suggest that you skip downloading this upgrade if you can. Apple support has been unable to resolve the issues.

Installed Sierra as soon as it was available, also installed the latest Adobe CC updates before installing Sierra - zero issues so far - Sierra runs fine on my iMac as does Photoshop & Lightroom. I use Lightroom and Photoshop on my iMac everyday.

I have all the latest updates on my iPhone, iPad mini, and iMac (Sierra) and no issues with any app including Photoshop CS6. In fact, my iMac (circa 2010) boots up much faster now than it did under El Capitan.

Always update existing software BEFORE an OS upgrade.

I do like to WAIT to upgrade at least one of my startup drives until the second quarterly "point" updates are released. That avoids many failure points.

Yes, but, updating the software PRIOR to upgrading the OS is a smart thing to do....eliminates the issues - which is why I really LOVE the Adobe CC plan - always have the latest and greatest with no upgrade costs.

Not sure this is an Apple issue, but an Adobe Software issue, addressed in the Adobe updates.

As was said earlier, always a good idea to update software prior to upgrading the OS.

I have updated to Sierra and both PS and Lightroom seem to run without any issues. I like the features but did have one strange thing happen and that is my fusion drive now appears as a 120 gb ssd and a 2 tb hdd, not sure if I will let it stay this way but I might, lets me decide what I want to load the fastest instead of the os deciding.

It seems to be the same (types) of issues as upgrading a PC to Windows 10. Those that have their ducks lined up have no problems. Those with old versions or pirated versions of software will likely have nightmares with MAC or Windows O/S upgades. Also it looks like a lot of Free Ware can be problematic, not surprisingly. Inadequate hardware can be an issue too, especially for Windows.

Updated all my Apple devices with no problems. I am disappointed that iOS 10 isn't backward compatible like iOS 9 was. Sierra made a huge difference on my 2011 MacBook Pro. It boots up faster and programs run smoother then ever. It is like I bought a new laptop. Better then any new Mac as I still have a Super Drive disc player and a lot of ports they have taken off new models. Will take the big win Sierra has provided. The Apple Watch is running better also.

I think this is like the warnings about side effects from medications. Death is a pretty serious side effect, but if that's for only one person in ten million, it's not a serious concern. I've never experienced any of these horror stories for any upgrade, Apple or Win10. After all, these are professional companies, and they know what they're doing.

Like most other responders, I have updated both my iOS and OS X software and have not had any issues.
