I find it interesting (and a bit scary) reading that carrying a gun is common practice for you guys. You can get into trouble with the cops here for having a stick on you!!!!!!!!!!
LOL - but true.

One of our freedoms/rights that we still have in the U.S. that your country, in agreement with the U.N., eliminated for you. It's not scary at all. We just have the potential to protect ourselves against illegal use of illegal weapons and wild animals while you don't. What's scary to me would be not having that right to self-protection.

Hay you guys. Don't come to Philly. Im just 50 miles north of center city and I just dont go there any more. I love Philly but it has become a shooting gallery down there. Last year it led the nation in murders.A lot of them were little children caught in the cross fire. Most of it is drug related. These guys would steal the pennys off a dead mans eyes just for a fix.I say flood the market with real bad stuff and get rid of all of them.

tea don't ever say you live in a safe place. The city that I live in the high class neiborhoods leave there garage doors open and have had things stolen and had been shot at in those so called safe place. Lawers been shot and killed. always take your camera or put it in your trunk if you are not using it, if you carry the camera with you all the time. put the strap over your head from left to right or right to left and hold it down with your arm. if confronted with a weapon give in. live is more important than that camera.

Just remember, theft is most often a crime of opportunity. If it can be seen or accessed, it can be stolen. As for putting stuff in your trunk - do it before you reach a destination because you do not know if someone is watching and breaking into a trunk is extremely easy. If you are anywhere and start feeling uneasy, listen to your gut feelings and leave the area.

Philly is number one? I thought Detroit was the murder capital. If not at the last count it will be. I stopped watching the Fox News, it's so depressing.

St Louis usually ranks up there in the top - and - is almost always in the top 5 or 6. St Louis usually has a little over 200 homicides a year on average. I've seen years where we were having one a day for long stretches of time.

I have read post from time to time about equipment being stolen, I assume even while out shooting. Fortunately I haven't had that experience but wondering how common that is? Can anyone can offer advice as to where not to shoot.

Also does anyone know of any insurance that will cover lost or stolen equipment? I guess it would be pretty difficult to prove that to an insurance agency.

Hey Doc ..... I used to purchase insurance ..... don't need it anymore

Not nice

True I will give you that one. What I should have said was I live in a relatively safe place. I mean my dad had is bicycle stolen out of our front yard a few years ago after we told him not to leave it out there. I always hide my camera if I have to leave it in the car and I keep it around my neck/shoulder if I have it out and keep a hand on it because where it sets makes a nice arm rest for me. At my house we always try to be careful and so far besides the bike we haven't had anything happen. (We did have a guy going around raping women last year but he was always across town from where I live. They caught him a couple of months ago. Turns out he was already in jail in another town on another charge of some kind.)

Crooks know that nothing will happen. Most are out of jail before the arresting officer has the paperwork done.
I was on a field trip back in high school to watch court proceedings. We watched a man released on his own recognizance for murder.
The man up behind him was arrested for urinating in an alley and got 10 days suspended sentence but fined $75.00

My home owners insurance covers my equipment no extra cost.

Better check on that since most homeowner's policies only cover if the equipment is under $1000 and either stolen from your residence or vehicle. It doesn't cover the equipment when on commercial air carriers. Riders are require for that and amounts over the $1000 limit. And then they raise your premiums and deductables.
