Just trying to keep it photographic. You should have used a fill flash on the left to eliminate shadows, perhaps on the right also.

Of course, but it wasn't my photo. It was a generic I found online.

No. This is a sore thumb.

Aside from the fact that it was $20 cheaper than all those dull colors, I like the bold look. It's even brighter in person. I'll have to add some interior LEDs.

Good looking case, Jerry. One of the things I like about the new cases is the power supply is on the bottom. Makes them easier to work in & arrange cables.

I have rebates on several of the parts, so I'll probably get them all out today and take a look at what's there. It's just a bit intimidating. If it starts and runs when I'm done, I'll be shocked.

Jerry is a valuable contributor to the forum. He regularly posts positive and helpful links and never has a negative, rude or snarky comment. In my opinion, we need more like him. And as Dirtpusher said, this is the general chit chat section, so chit chat about computers (which seems to be a goodly portion of questions on all forums of The Hog) should be welcome.

amen and right on with that.....................

It will (run). Once the display comes up, get into the BIOS and check settings (and modify any per your personal preferences), then congratulate yourself on your assembly skills, get a beer and load Windows. Once Windows is up, get your network and Internet access up, set your various preferences (display, etc.), and load any needed drivers that Windows didn't automatically load. Get another beer and load up your applications and configure those. Will take a good part of the day, but at the end, you'll have a very high performance machine that YOU researched, configured and built, and you'll also understand exactly how to configure/manage your machine - a skill set you can't gain by ordering a machine and opening the box. Finally, congratulate yourself (and have another celebratory beer). Let us know any issues or problems.

Cheers,
Chris

Thanks. With parts arriving for my machine and my son's, I'm trying to keep them straight.

DO NOT go with water cooled, it fails and gets noisy and leaks.
They say it is pure water and can't harm things, BUT atmosphere and residual chemicals on the PCB make it not pure water.
I had a Kuler and it leaked and was noisy, messed me up with failed ram.
Get a big fan and heat sink combo and you will be quieter and cooler.
I have the I7, 16 gigs is really good, Instant satisfaction, get more if you want.
I am ready to rebuild because of the leak.
This is my system and I got it free.

That was the first forum I joined and that computer rocks.
I just wished you could build a laptop like that.

If it's not a high end drive designed for constant running you've just shortened it's life because you can't wait 3 seconds for a drive to spin up!

Actually, if you reread my note you will see that it was not 3 seconds that I was waiting. I said it loaded normally in 3 seconds or less, in reality, during the spin up it would take between 15 and 30 seconds, which to me is ridiculous for a fusion drive loading Lightroom. Before you try to pick apart fusion drives note that Lightroom is located on the fusion drive, along with my catalog, BUT my images are located on my external thunderbolt connected drive, and it was the spinning up of the external after being put to sleep that caused the apparent loading of Lightroom delay.

Now, please tell me how many months of useful life I have reduced my external drive by having it not go to sleep?
