I ordered a refurbished 7D direct from canon, search canon loyalty program, paid $1087 plus tax, it is a beautiful camera and think I will own another before race season wraps up.You have to to trade in another canon camera to get the deal, so get rid of that film camera or broken point and shoot.

Thanks to everyone...sounds like the 7D is the way to go. I don't live near a camera store. Would ordering from Amazon be ok?

I tried finding the loyalty program on Canon's website and don't see it. Where do I find the trade in info?

I think most of us might agree (ducking now) that nothing is better then a knowledgeable, willing to sure info, shooting buddy.

If you both shoot the same brand and or similar model fantastic!

A friendly camera club (again sharing not competing group) will have you up to speed quickly. Half the battle is out of the box set up.

I shoot Nikon but I would tell my Canon buds 7D.

Now wheres that pesky shield?

Hi John...Great to hear from you. How is your "big" Canon working for you? Thanks for the compliment. I'm really enjoying the 17-40, but just think I'm ready to step up to a better camera body. Sounds like the 7D is the way to go for me. Take care. Hope you are enjoying the spring and getting the chance to snap lots of photos. Linda

call Canon Directly, 1 866 443 8002 and ask for the Canon Loyalty Program, I had the website and you had to register and then they gave you the # so this will help you skip that step

The only thing I like about the 60D is the articulating screen. The only thing I don't like about the 60D is the articulating screen. What! Well, it really looks like a nice addition to any camera but do they hold up? Are they durrable?

The 7D has the 60D beat in all other aspects but the 60D is approaching the 7D in features. Since the OP says that she isn't shooting sports or wildlife, she really doesn't need the 8fps. The 60D shoots almost 6fps which sounds good for her purposes. But to be honest, I'd rather have a widget I can grow into later because I think I'll use it longer and get my moneys worth.

Linda, the focus problems would be with the lenses, wouldn't they? I have a 7D and find focusing differs with the lenses I have. I've had a 7D for a couple of years now and am very pleased with it. For a crop-sensor camera, I can't imagine going with any other camera. I don't know much about the 60D and can't speak to it. Hope this helps. Best of luck in your decision.

You do NOT need the 7D if you do NOT shoot sports or wildlife - That is primarily what it was designed to do ! _ but, ....If you have the extra money to spend ? ......I would take the 60D and buy lenses with the extra....

If you don't need video, and would like to save budget money to spend on a lens instead (always a better idea) might I suggest looking at the 50D. You can probably pick one up from Adorama, B&H, Cameta, Abes, or Amazon and have $500 left over for an good landscape lens.

Hi, I have the 7D and it is everything I need in a camera. I shoot the grandkids sports but I also do landscapes. This camera with the right lens will shoot any-thing you want it to. The learning curve with a good instructional book is fine. When I bought mine (6 months ago) I kept hearing about the focus problems but I have not experienced anything like they said. If it won't break the piggy bank get it. You won't be sorry. Have fun and keep shootin'. Mike

Hi UHH friends. I have read reviews on both the Canon 60D and the Canon 7D. I would value any information you can give me based on your experience with these cameras. I'm upgrading from my first DSLR which is a Rebel XS. I shoot mainly landscapes and people, but not sports and/or wildlife. I also don't think I would be shooting videos. I use a 50 mm, a 17-40, and a 28-135. Thanks for your help.

My advise is purchase a used 5d mk 2. You can find some good deals right now. I have both the 7d and 5d. Both are nice but there are real advantages to a full frame sensor. The IQ of the 5d Mk 2 is wonderful.

I have a 7D, 40D and a 20D you can get a used 40D for 300 bucks and it works great . I love all three . If you dont shoot video than id look for a used 50D or 40D . Great cameras all of them . Spend the money on good glass and you will have no regrets .
