I had the same problem, then I noticed an update to the D7000's firmware which solved the problem. Check Nikon site to see if you have the latest firmware.

Rich, you don't ever, ever, ever format a memery card in a computer, mac or pc!!! Put the card in your camera and format it in the camera several times then you should be good to go. Also, don't share the card with other cameras because this will cause issues as well. As far as removing a card to download the imags that is perfectly fine and much faster. Just make sure the camera is turned off before removing the card!!!

rfazzi,
Im with Snowbear and no doubt others here following along.

1.) Reformat the cards in your D7000 after download and checking to make sure there(images are in fact) on the computers hard drive.
2.) As a Mac user make sure your software is up to date. Apple products update frequently and we just went thru an update with the D800e/Aperture 3, PS5, iPhoto.
3.) you can swap slot one with slot two's card.
4.) Call nikon toll free for technical help as often as you must for any model/body help. 1-800-645-6689. No doubt this has often happened to others so don't be bashful, call them.

I had a similar experience with SD cards and new P&S Canon bodies. As noted earlier Sandisk have limited lifetime warranties, so your not really stuck.

fotogk, There are several options in the format box and then there is erase in the lower right hand corner. I used that option since I didn't know which (if any) of the format options I should choose.

Format ms-dos(fat) this is the old pc version of format which all camera should be able to read then use the camera to reformat

The same happened to me. Upgrade your D7000 firmware and format your cards again. I used my macpro to format. Worked like a charm!

Nikon photo class 101----do not reformat memory cards in computer. Import photos to computer via memory card, check to see if they are on your computer, eject card and reformat card in camera. That's how I was taught in class on how to reformat a card. Never had a problem with any size card I've used and I use ProMaster exclusively (lifetime warranty). Also I have to ask the question---doesn't your camera have the capability of showing each shot taken on your LCD after it's taken?? So how do you shoot 50 photos before you notice there is a problem??

Guys I said it before and now again, I repair computers. most of the time the problem is dirty contacts and a good clean will sort it. A card only needs to be formated once, In the camera, not a computer you match the camera not the computer, , from then on a delete or added picture, alters the index of the card and adds or deletes the data. If there is corruption of the data a format resets it and thats fine. I feel and I may be wrong ( I often am ) but try a clean of the cards contacts, It may of course be the contacts in the camera its self, so push the card in and out a few times, let it self scrape itself .
Try this before throwing away what probably is a perfectly good card.

I have San Disk cards too and transfer photos via computer card reader. I had some trouble once -- I took out the card transferred the images -- one was damaged -- and then reformatted the card with the more extensive formatting choice. I reformat (the short form) every time to remove the images. After I reformatted no further problems. I think what happened is I took a shot in low light and cut it off before it had finished and that seemed to confuse my camera -- a Canon Rebel T3i.
I suggest you turn off the camera, unload the card, reformat the long way (Canon has two kinds of reformatting), and see if it works ok after that

No - don't format with the Mac, use the camera to format the card. The Mac does not know about the directory structure that the camera will need.

Not true. Usually, reformatting should occur in the camera. I would have faith in MT Shooter's procedure based on his experience, and if you want to try it, you can indeed reformat on the Mac. Use the Disk Utility program, which is in the Applications -> Utilities folder. Hit the Erase tab and select MS-DOS/FAT as the format. Then reformat in the camera.

Go to your menu options to "Firmware", if you still have version 1.01 then you need to upgrade. NikonUSA.com is the website to get the update from, they tell you how in step-by-step instructions.

OK, read up on firmware and appears I've got the new version, so that isn't the reason this Lexar plat II 8gb card gave me an ERR reading.
NO, I don't want to send my camera in for a check-up!
