A couple of big factor not mentioned that turned me off the 60d is the 7ds body is magnesium and resist water and dust, the 60d is plastic. The 60d has no lens calibration. The only draw back is the 7d is a little heaver by 5 oz. (not much)
Another good point for consideration.
It seems that the Nikon D7000 is getting very popular in a very short time. My friend has decided to buy the D7000 over the Canon EOS 7D (which he really wanted prior to the announcement of the D7000). I think that this is the best ASP-C digital SLR on the market today, in an advanced-amateur perspective. The only place to go from there is buying the Nikon D700 or its replacement, the D800.
7d,i love mine, make sure you pick a good lens to go with it.
Linda, I've seen your pictures, you'll do fine with whichever body that you choose! Your lenses will work with full frame as well. Good to hear from you!!

The 7D (I have two) really excells at shooting action like sports and wildlife which you say you do not shoot.
For people and landscapes I expect the 60D will be fine.
But...if you can swing it, get the 5D MKII as that camera is made for the subjects you shoot and being FF it will possibly produce a better image for your type of photography then a 7D.
Consumer Reports testing labs found that the 60D was actually better in many aspects to the 7D. Just saying...

I have the 60D and am completely happy with it but I have not shot the 7D so can't compare. Just boughe a 70-200 2.8 IS L series lens and haven't found anything this camera can't do. In the long run remember its the one holding the camera not the camera.

Just bought the same lens, but it's the newest mod II. Still learning...

I was interested in the 7D so I rented it for one week. It is such a great camera I purchased a refurbished one from B&H last Friday. Can't wait for it to arrive.
Attached are a handful of pics I took at a bike ride over Memorial Day weekend.
I ordered a refurbished 7D direct from canon, search canon loyalty program, paid $1087 plus tax, it is a beautiful camera and think I will own another before race season wraps up.You have to to trade in another canon camera to get the deal, so get rid of that film camera or broken point and shoot.

Thanks to everyone...sounds like the 7D is the way to go. I don't live near a camera store. Would ordering from Amazon be ok?

buy the 7d if you got the bucks. a fabulous camera. has dual digic image processors....takes very low noise images at really high ISO settings. i have the 7d and the 5d mk2, and the 7d is my favorite camera. it's the top of the line aps-c size sensor before jumping to full frame.
Agree completely with this evaluation. I had the 50d and sold it for the 7d. No regrets whatsoever. But here's a kicker, the gal I sold the 50d to is now producing just fabulous tack sharp photos. However, after said and done, I would take the 7d in a heartbeat.
