Miss Stephie, you are so right! It's much more romantic viewing the photo with the idea that the figures are looking at the sunrise.

I like the second one best. The figures in the second picture are difficult for me to figure out.If you bring them out so they can be seen clearly, I think the picture will be really cool.

Thanks for all your comments and opinions. The photos are actually HDR and you can tell by looking at the leaves in the top left corner. The edges don't quite line up right. I'm surprised that no one pointed this out!

Hi Brent. Your boy is to be congratulated on a couple of great shots. Personally, I like the first as to me it provides something additional of interest, to paint a story as it were. Miss Stephie is right. I too assumed (you know, making an ass of you and me!) they were looking away from the camera.

My only suggestion? Since he is obviously going to be a great cameraman, tell him about the rule of thirds. To me that is the only thing that could have maybe improved his pics.

Great stuff all round. Thanks.

I would agree - it's a great landscape, and putting people in it spoils it, at least for me.

Maybe it's just me, but in addition to other comments, I would add that #2 is much more in balance. In #1 there is too much "weight" to the right side.

I still like the second photo minus the couple better,so the whole lovely sunset can be seen.

I like them both, for different reasons. I only wish the couple had been facing the sunset.

Without the figures, the picture is an interesting scene: lightened, it is a good picture of two people - so the photograph really serves two purposes: scene or people. Take your pick

Just looked at these again on my computer. I agree with an earlier post that one of two things should have been done. Either made it a true silhouette or used fill flash. FF would have been the best choice IMHO.
