the first day I met my wife was at an archery tournament, the next date I bought her a bow. that set the pattern for the next 34 yrs. of course whining and begging helped now and then. she was a softy.

and what part of, you cannot use it on manual nikon bodies, as it is a cheapo G lens, doesn't everybody understand. not to mention the fact that is is ridiculously overlarge?

Actually, if the jewelry and lens are in rough $ balance, it is usually workable. Sometimes wives have expensive hobbies as well, and that can help.

My wife & I are going to Germany this month.
We both have Sony a99 cameras.
She let me get a new Sigma 12-24mm Wide angel lens for $599.
Gosh love is great. :-)

LOL - no kidding. I shoot mainly with Canon & Sony gear and I sold and gave away most of my Nikon gear but I'm drooling for this lens!

(Nothing against the Nikon gear I had. It was great equipment; just didn't use it enough.)

What cracked me up is that I recently bought a lens. Consequently, most all the ads interspersed throughout this discussion are for lenses :)

Yeah, help you go broke.

MY wife loves those expensive Swarovski crystal thingies. I bought her the $800 tiger and other pieces that were $400-800 each. But if I want a lens for my camera? What does she say? “You already HAVE a lens, don’t you?”

AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!

The 105 1.4 is a cheapo "E" lens.
I do own and use several of those cheapo "G" lenses though.

Just what does the "E" & "G" stand for?
My lens is an "A" mount.

As far as I understand it, the "E" and "G" indicate designations pertaining to Nikon lenses, not how they mount.

These designations are for Nikon which are all "F" mount. That does NOT mean that ALL lenses will mount/work fully on ALL bodies. The "G" indicates there is no aperture ring on the lens and the "E" signifies the newest, electromagnetic aperture control. Hope this helps.
