I agree with you completely. Had I made that post before you it would've been almost word for word. But with more disdain for the culprits you've mentioned.
I've seen detailed instructions made ambiguous to the point of having two completely different meanings (unless that only shows how thick I am) and it drives me nuts!
From public officials it is the expected, but here........?
And would it be asking too much to do a little proof-reading and editing before finally posting?
Mike.

I thought it must be a shorthand undecipherable to me or maybe just the way photographers talked.
Would it be silly to ask for a page to go to of acceptable or well known initials - shorthand etc?

oh ps. is it terribly dumb to ask how can you tell how many pixels 'X' camera has?

Friendly speaking... Sinatraman, you have been highly expected the perfect English in the world. Umm, what's about your spelling (writeing)? It is a bad verb spelling. You were hypocrite us. Tsk-tsk-tsk!
Second, no one is the perfect English on the earth.
Third, nobody is the winner this thread!
Then let's having peace in the forum and have enjoyed with photography.

I kinda figured he was playing devels advocate through this whole thing. After reading his comments a few pages ago, I can understand why he was so adament about this, having to learn English himself. Looking at another post, apparently...he's a strong Obama supporter. The only thing I can't understand is, why would he come to a country the President is appoligizing for?

There is much that this country has to apologize for, not just to other countries, but also to citizens. Do we not have the highest incarceration rate of any country in the world ? We have a higher one than China.

Do we not have an incredibly crooked legislative branch ? The best that money can buy, and money has bought it.

You can wave the flag all you want, but all you have to do is read Zinn's "History of the American People" and you will discover the genocide some of most revered figures in history practiced. Andrew Jackson may have been the worst, but he had lots of competition. The one thing we can say that is unique among the countries of the world is that I can write this sort of thing and the secret police (or even the not-so-secret ones) won't come to my house in the middle of the night and make me into one of the "disappeared." In that respect, we are truly free.Don't think we all shouldn't appreciate that. We should.

One thing about the incarceration rate - Don't Do the Crime & You Will Not Do The Time!![ As for apologizing lots of that has been done in the past and more should and will be done in the future. Crooked politicians are like pollution - we will never get rid of it. If there is still Chinese who feel it is a disgrace to be a crook like it was when my wife's family was missionaries there in the late 1800's and early 1900's then that might be a reason - family pride to be honest. Not generation one after another taught how to beat the system that wants honest people and to take what we buy while we are asleep or at the end of a gun - much less a pen & paper Madof (SPL)Style in China he would have been executed.

So right you are. And don't we also have the worst and most expensive health are system in the industrialized world? Don't we also have the worst distribution of wealth this side of a banana republic? The greatness of a nation is not the degree to which we shut up every critic with a "love it or leave it" mantra, but the degree to which it takes care of the least of its people. If corporate money in politics was properly restricted, and if we did not have the two-party winner-take-all political system we would have a great chance of becoming what we were trained to recite in knee-jerk fashion; the greatest country in the world. In order to achieve it we must first create the proper domestic balance of terror, which is euphemistically called pluralism.

And the world also has us to thank for freedom from the Nazis and Japanese and eventually Communist domination. The Marshall plan re-built a destroyed Europe after World War II. However we have erred, we seem to have muddled through and provided the guiding light of freedom and democracy for people around the world. Did you ever in your lifetime think the Berlin Wall would fall or the Cold War would end? Much through the the determination of one man focusing the power and might of this great country against the evil axis!!

and if it wasn't for American blood, money and weapons the rest of the world would be having to learn to speak German<Japanese, Italian, or Russian. The only thing we have to apoloigize for is slavery, and how we treated the Indian. Unlike most other civilizations around the world, we at least were willing to fight a war to end slavery in the US for ever. If you don't like living in this country then leave it. I am sure workers paradise North Korea that does provide free health care would be better ! In the words of the silent majority,America love it or leave it! we can replace you with w cubans who are willing to risk their life to get here and become citizens.

"Don't do the crime and you won't do the crime" is the kind of moralistic, simplistic statement that does nothing to enlighten anyone or change the situation. ALL cultures have crime. But not all cultures have nearly the incarceration rate we have, nor do they have the kind of entrenched "punish 'em" lobby we are saddled with. I know a bit about this having been involved with (against) the criminal justice system in terms of researching California's atrocities and writing a legal brief or two that actually got people out of prison. When you talk about prisons and prison reform with me, you are talking with an informed source.

I always wonder how many of the people defending terrible spelling and gawd-awful grammar are the ones who insist immigrants into this nation learn to read, write and speak correct English.
