When I was there, I wished I had a wide angle lens. The mansion is small, and you don't have a lot of room to work with. The lighting in the car museum is pretty dim.

Totally agree. I had a Canon G16 and a S100 with me, and mainly used "P" and "Auto" modes. If you see a shot indoors, you have to be quick to take the pic to have any chance of not having unintentional photo bombers. In the living quarters, many shots will be taken from rope barriers. There are also some areas where some of his suits or other stuff is behind plexi-glass. Someone else mentioned that the car museum was a little dark; I also agree with that. The lighting is a little tricky: bright to dark, fluorescent vs incandescent, etc. I left white balance on auto. Also, shoot raw to save yourself from headaches when you sort out all the shots after the visit. Each exhibit ends in gift store. Lastly, allow a lot of time. We walked in within a few minutes of the gates being opened and stayed the whole day. We had hoped to hit Sun Records but didn't have the time. Graceland is really well done, especially so if you a fan of the KING, which my wife and I both are.

My name is Chaxl; occasionally I'll post on here seeking advice on camera settings and/or techniques. In a few days my parents and I are going to Graceland and touring Elvis's mansion. being both the biggest Elvis fan and the photographer of the family, I don't want to use the wrong settings, especially when it's a 12 hour drive. Online I've read that photography is allowed throughout the house as long as there's no flash. My main question is what would be the most proper setting for indoor sots of the mansion without the flash. I don't own an SLR, but I am very satisfied with my Canon Powershot SX50. 90% of he time when I shoot, I use the 'Program' mode. Is this OK with indoor shots? Should my White Balance be on Florescence? What about my ISO as I don't want my photos to be grainy.

Thanks,, and any help would be much appreciated,
Chaxl

I can be a little more helpful after finding my Graceland photos -- taken with a point and shoot. 37mm equivalent was not wide enough. At f/2.8 and ISO 141 (don't know where that came from) the shots were like 1/15th to 1/2 second. The exposures were a little dark for the most part, and I couldn't hold still enough, but that should give you an idea of what your settings need to be.

This image was taken with a Canon Powershot S95 at F5.6, 1 sec exposure, and ISO 80.
The second was taken with the same camera at F2.0, 1/3 sec exposure, and ISO 80.
The third, same camera, at F2.0, exposure 1/2.5 sec and ISO 80.
