You may want to check out Tony Northrup's You Tube, on his simultaneous tutorial on the D7100/7200. Quite informative.

You can download the .pdf version of the manual for free on Nikon's website. I have all of my manuals for cameras and lenses on my laptop, cell phone, desktop computer, and wife's cell phone. I also have 2 copies of each of the paper manuals (one in my book case and one in my camera case). I know that this seems like overkill but the paper manual is easier to "flip" through and the other is more convenient in the field or on trips. As I said, I have a paper copy in the camera bag but I often leave that at the hotel or in the car. I always have the cell phone. Nikon USA also sells the paper copy of all new cameras and most older models (I even got a copy of the manual for my wife's Nikon D70s from them a year or so ago). Adorama, B&H and others may or may not have them.

At the time I bought the D7200 referb from Adorama, Nikon did not. They may have it now. I don't have or want a smart phone so downloading it to a phone wouldn't do me any good. I personally have had enough with the technology war and am trying my hardest to step back to a simpler time. I'm even canceling my satellite service for free air tv. I drive older cars because I want to continue to fix them myself if possible and what I save on car payments puts me way ahead of buying less gas. That being said, if I ever win the lottery, I may change my mind and buy a smart phone, but I doubt it.

Here is the link for all of Nikon's manuals. The D7200 is on the right hand side between the D80 and D5000.

For others that want access to the complete list, here is the main link.

For an extended manual, Darrell Young's Mastering the Nikon D7200 would be the best thing for you. It's not a book on how to take pictures, but goes more in depth on each function of the camera than the manual does. I have the book on the D800, and the section on focusing, for instance, is 26 pages.

The David Busch Manuals are of the same caliber, I have them for three of my cameras. Waiting for his D500 manual to come out next month.

I really like some of the third party manuals but I like to have the Manufacturers manual too. The factory manual often covers stuff that isn't listed or talked about by the third party writer. However, the other side of the coin is that, often the third party writer explains things differently than the factory manual and often you can (by combining the knowledge of the 2 or 3 different views of the same subject) more easily understand what is being described or accomplished. Sometimes (maybe I'm dense) having 2 or 3 takes on the same subject gives better explanations than one writer's take.

I used Nikon 7200 for Idiots. It actually is quite thorough. However, I am a totally amateur photographer

Hello All,

Just got a Nikon 7200 to replace my D200 and wonder if the 7200 users can point me in the right direction to a good after market manual for the 7200. I looked at one that was 80% how to take pic, rather than the ins and outs of the 7200, and how to get the best of the 7200. Thumbed through a book on a Canon from the same publisher and for the most part, it was the same "how to take pic" that was in the 7200 manual. I'm interested in how to best use the 7200, not how to take better pic.

Thanks in advance for your help,
Dan

Thom Hogan writes the most accurate and detailed manuals on Nikon cameras. He explains all the functions, how they work and why they work. I have purchased numerous manual from him and they are all very good. The only caveat is they are eBooks, so you have to have a digital device or computer to read them. Some find this a problem. I do not. It is nice to have the manual on my iPhone or iPad when I travel.

My vote is for Darrell Young's Mastering the Nikon D7200.

It includes one of my photos.....the Pileated Woodpecker

Purchased Dave Busch's N 7200 guide on Kindle. Option is the D Busch's field guide.

I just got "Nikon D7200 for Dummies" in hard copy from Amazon. I've just leafed through it and it looks like a decent guide to the camera. It will make for some good reading this winter.

Dan, there's probably more than sufficient information on the web. Don't spend extra money if you don't need to. Youtube is also a good source of information, some better than others.

"Manuals" are good. "how to take a better pic" = 0 (some fish will rise to the bait) IF you need D7200 info- search "the web" - as well as UHH.

In fact, there's so much out there that there's a thought that we can do without books or libraries.
