Hello All,

Just got a Nikon 7200 to replace my D200 and wonder if the 7200 users can point me in the right direction to a good after market manual for the 7200. I looked at one that was 80% how to take pic, rather than the ins and outs of the 7200, and how to get the best of the 7200. Thumbed through a book on a Canon from the same publisher and for the most part, it was the same "how to take pic" that was in the 7200 manual. I'm interested in how to best use the 7200, not how to take better pic.

Thanks in advance for your help,
Dan

When the refurbed Nikon D7200 arrived from Adorama, it came without a manual. After requesting one from them they provided me with a photo copy of it. It was appreciated but too large and heavy to carry in a quick grab case. We eventually bought a copy of Nikons owner's manual from 42nd Street for $10.00. Normally I don't buy from 42nd Street Photo but they were the only source one at the time. Maybe Nikon has them now.

Aardq, you might have a look here:
http://www.dojoklo.com/Full_Stop/Nikon_D7200_Experience.htm
this may actually be the same one:

That ought to keep you busy for a bit. If not enough, Google's your friend. Use search terms like Instruction for Nikon 7200, How to use Nikon 7200, Complete guide for Nikon 7200, etc.

If you'd like a digital manufacturer's manual, this is it:

Agree wholeheartedly with suggestions for books by Darrell Young and David Busch.
Also, do you have or can you get a library card?

Thanks to all,
That should give me plenty to look at.
Ralph - Do have a library card and that was my first stop. No luck there on specific manual, but lots of how to books. I have the factory manual, but have learned over the years that they leave a lot to be desired. Also, my 68 yr old eyes have trouble reading the small print, and the illustrations are all but impossible to see clearly. At least the D200 manual was easy to read. Don't mind a book that doesn't fit the camera bag, but that would be nice.
Thanks again to all, and I will be checking out each possibility.
Dan

One of the things I like about ebooks is that I can enlarge the print to make them easier to read

https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Nikon-D7200-Darrell-Young/dp/1937538745 I have his book for the D7100 and it is excellent. I would suggest only getting it in print.

I can recommend this video from CreativeLive. It's for the D7000, but both cameras are similar.

You can download the .pdf version of the manual for free on Nikon's website. I have all of my manuals for cameras and lenses on my laptop, cell phone, desktop computer, and wife's cell phone. I also have 2 copies of each of the paper manuals (one in my book case and one in my camera case). I know that this seems like overkill but the paper manual is easier to "flip" through and the other is more convenient in the field or on trips. As I said, I have a paper copy in the camera bag but I often leave that at the hotel or in the car. I always have the cell phone. Nikon USA also sells the paper copy of all new cameras and most older models (I even got a copy of the manual for my wife's Nikon D70s from them a year or so ago). Adorama, B&H and others may or may not have them.

For an extended manual, Darrell Young's Mastering the Nikon D7200 would be the best thing for you. It's not a book on how to take pictures, but goes more in depth on each function of the camera than the manual does. I have the book on the D800, and the section on focusing, for instance, is 26 pages.
