Years ago got a new camera and took a trip with my parents to Washington DC.. we saw the Lincoln Memorial.. Arlington Cemetery, the Smithsonian. On the way back went through Virginia, took pics at many Civil War sites. I took pictures of us everywhere! Now I took 16 rolls of film.. and when we got home EVERY picture and I mean EVERY picture had my finger in the picture! It was a family joke for years and if they both weren't gone I would still here about it today! haha
Years ago I went out to the telescope because Jupiter was in the perfect alignment for my field of view...found it quickly in the spotter scope...but couldnt get it thru the main tube...nothing...pitch black...went into the house swearing a blue streak...its about the lens cap
Shot about fifty shots of an eagle fishing thought man this camera is fast this morning. The it hit me no memory card I now have the lock no card feature enabled.

I thought they were all classics. The thread finally died out but I know there are more good stories out there. Just some people might not have the gut's to share them.
Doing something and I mean anything is not stupid. Doing nothing is stupid. Learning from stupid mistakes is brilliant.

So true! The mom happened to see one of the pictures with the weird shadows and said - 'oh I love this one, it's so cool how she has a shadow on both sides'. go figure!

I don't have much experience in studio portrait lighting but I've read a lot on the subject and watched some long videos. I was ready to try it out. I bought a 3 mono light system with reflector umbrellas recently and was going to practice by taking pictures of my little cousin. The problem is I get so nervous. I took this picture using one monolight with silver reflector umbrella and could not figure out why I had the weird shadows.
AFTER the photo shoot I'm still thinking about what went wrong and my 11 year old says. Mom, isn't the reflector umbrella backwards? Yeah, ... I had the reflector turned around and was next to the subject.
Anyone else ever do anything stupid that would make me feel better about now?

Start simple with one light and a reflector. Vary the positions and see what effects that give. The weird shadow is due to your model being too close to the backdrop.
