Yeah. The UHH is like an old folks home full of crotchety old men who feed off of each other's rants. It's sort of like the two old guys in the balcony on the muppets but without the humor.

Yeah, there are dozens of semi-meaningless expressions like that. It's colloquial, not something you would use in serious conversation or serious print. Expressions like that come and go - no reason to get upset over them. They give you the opportunity to smile inside when you hear a lesser person using them.

Thanks Tom,

The list goes on. I'm not terribly upset by the the new "language uses". Language is always evolving. However, lately, due to technology and instant notifications, the evolution seems to be accelerating. Too often for me, I notice expressions, phrases and words with which I am unfamiliar. It reminds me of a famous quote by the great amateur golfer, Bobby Jones when he spoke of Jack Nicklaus. "He plays a game with which I am unfamiliar". Time & progress march on?

Yes, I agree with you Markngolf.

And there are a lot more to add, e.g., "Have a Nice Day", when "Thank You", "See you later', "So Long", etc., would be much more appropriate.

Especially, after making a purchase, "Thanks or Thank You" would be far more appreciated than "Have a Nice Day". Such Bull Sh*t I never imagined.

And there is the Stupid acronym, LOL. And, there are more.

And, then there is the telemarketers (and others) who call on you phone and ask, "How are you today" when they, nor anyone else, don't really gives a damn. Why not say, "Hello, this is (name) from (identify where), do you have a minute to talk? Most people will listen if given a bit of information beforehand.

I'd better stop before I get heart palpitations over this ridiculous stuff. Just sayin' (apologies, just making a point).
Yes, I agree with you Markngolf. br br And ther... (show quote)

Been good for some morning chuckles and a little reflection. Thanks to all.

I will not add a parting sentence, but a few of the aforementioned "closing's" might be appropriate, but might further reveal my lack of edjamacation.

Maybe this jazz/singer/piano player artist from Mississippi says it all.
Not trying to make a comment directed towards anyone - just sharing this short video.

Enjoy,

I think there is some minor value in the phrase. It gives some clarity on where you are coming from...

"You are rude and certainly crude!"..... I think you are rude and crude, and everyone on earth does, or should agree.

"I think you are rude and crude" or
"You are rude and crude, just sayin" ..... Whilst I think you are rude and crude, that's just my opinion and I recognize everyone on earth may not agree.

"I think you are rude and crude, just sayin"..... IMO, you seem to be rude and crude, but (re-emphasizing) that's just me.

Funny how phrases can be interpreted differently. I
communicate with a group of people who use the "just sayin'" phrase occasionally to mean precisely that their point IS non-sensical. Does that make us "smart" as opposed to the way "dumb" folks use it? Or are we just dumber?

I don't see how that article has assuaged your attitude. I still hate it. I also hate it when someone says Q-pon (coupon). do you say he drives a 2 door
Qyoop??? (coupe)???? Do you say Bolivia just had a Qyoop d' etat (coup d'etat). it's all from the french and it's all pronounced the same....coopon.....coop....coo. and I love how the Brits can't pronounce Jaguar. Jag U ar. and I'm not going to end it with.....you know what.

I use and understand, "In my opinion". I see no need for the newer expression, "Just sayin". For me, it is a nondescript new phrase that seems to be gaining popularity. I did not say it was "rude or crude". The author of the article did.

I believe it is right in there with wearing your hat backwards, long baggy shorts down to your ass and rap, " just sayin ".
