I read this on UHH today in a post and have heard and read it from others. I really did not know what it meant, but every time I read or heard it, I was not only puzzled, but felt rather annoyed. Today, I Googled it. I was happy to read another's viewpoint. Here is the link to the article:

Mark - My opinion is not rude and it's certainly not crude. It is MY OPINION and I am entitled to it along with the other unalienable rights set forth under under our Bill of Rights. Just sayin'.

marhngolf - It is the the heart of political correctness and worthy of the same attitude toward the speaker. Dave

I hate the phrase "just saying." Generally it means nothing much -- so far as I can tell. So, in most cases it is just a waste of time. But sometimes it is used to mitigate the impact of prior objectionable comments. In that case, it provides cover for being obnoxious. There are no language police, thank God. So, folks get to use whatever words and phrases they like. However, I do find this particular phrase irritating.

I hate it also. I feel like replying "Just saying what?".

I use and understand, "In my opinion". I see no need for the newer expression, "Just sayin". For me, it is a nondescript new phrase that seems to be gaining popularity. I did not say it was "rude or crude". The author of the article did.

I don't care for it, but it doesn't bother me enough to get upset about it.
It's like " he disrespected my friend", or "baby momma/baby daddy", or "we conversated", or any of a number of other like phrases. It may sound stupid to some of us, but it is the way the language has evolved. No sense in getting upset about it.

It's a phrase dumb people use when they think they've made some sort of point, usually when the point is stupid or there was no point made to begin with.
