You are right Jerry. When I get a cup of coffee from a vending machine, I handle it carefully, because it is usually full to the brim, and sip in gently to test how hot it is. On TV, they grab it and chug-a-lug on it like there was only an inch of cold coffee in the bottom. Looks really phoney

Oh, yeah . . . you guys have sure hit on a lot of things that for a while, I thought
I was maybe the only one to see -- first of all, that coffee drinking where they
make it appear as if there is nothing in the cup (which I'm sure there isn't really),
but they could at least make it look believable to the viewers.

Plus others, like rearview mirrors removed so we get a good view of the driver and
passenger, streets being wet in many movies, the quick access to all/any computer,
etc, etc . . .

There were some in older movies where a car with hubcaps looses one during a
police chase, for instance, but has it back on in a later scene of the same run.

Picking out such fallacies in TV shows and movies tend to bring back a bit of
memories from my days/nights in MI and ending up in PI work; and, I DO want to
say thanks that I am not the only weirdo (as I often get called by family members)
for picking out this kind of stuff that so many seem to not care about . . .

There is a reason for that one.... if some whacko tries to dial it, it goes to no where. It is a dead number.

Yeah, re that telephone number with the 555-xxxx being a dead number, I learned that a good while back, too.
They didn't want to get sued by someone whose number might have been inadvertently given out and starts
getting calls from people playing the part from the movie or whatever.

Everyone on TV shows has a cell phone these days, but notice what happens when they use them. The phone rings, they look at it as it lights up, and then they hold it to their ear. In the real world, the light turns off, but on TV the light stays on. That's because they're not really involved in a phone call. You'd think someone would have noticed that and found a remedy.

Another minor annoyance with TV shows - When someone has a paper cup of coffee, of course it's an empty cup. The problem is that they handle it like an empty cup. It just doesn't look right. They should put a blob of clay or something inside the cup so the actors handle it like a regular cup of coffee.

Whew! I'm glad I got that off my chest!

What annoys me more than anything else is canned laughter. In scene after scene you can hear the same level of laughter -- it starts with a few people, grows to a maximum, then slowly backs out with one or two little giggles at the end. It gets to the point that all I hear is the dumb laughter. Some of the better shows may have three that they rotate but it is still detectable.

Next time you see an elevator on the screen, look at the floor where the car meets the floor, there's no break in the floor. Mostly in older flicks like the Andy Griffith show. Not only that but listen to the sounds the doors make opening or closing, just a couple sheets of plywood.

Oh geez, you have hit probably my pet peeve...I hate canned laughter with a passion and they use it when there is nothing funny. And the use it with some so called comedies after each sentence whether it was meant to be funny or not.

Yep.

Always remember, in the USA, virtually ALL commercial programming is there as filler bait to lead you to the ads. It may be disguised as something entertaining or informative, but the networks just want to make a buck.

And what about those car scenes where the driver is talking to the passenger, for 20 seconds or more. Try taking your eyes off the road for even 10 seconds, in traffic, during a car chase, and see where you end up!

Did you know the "booze" is actually tea?
But the beer is actually beer, but warm dead beer.
Why? There's not really a good substitute that actually looks like beer.

I've seen lots of MacBooks with the apple disguised.

Unless McGiver is on the scene, then all it takes is a paperclip!
