Cell Phones on TV

Everyone on TV shows has a cell phone these days, but notice what happens when they use them. The phone rings, they look at it as it lights up, and then they hold it to their ear. In the real world, the light turns off, but on TV the light stays on. That's because they're not really involved in a phone call. You'd think someone would have noticed that and found a remedy.

Another minor annoyance with TV shows - When someone has a paper cup of coffee, of course it's an empty cup. The problem is that they handle it like an empty cup. It just doesn't look right. They should put a blob of clay or something inside the cup so the actors handle it like a regular cup of coffee.

Whew! I'm glad I got that off my chest!

I thought I was the only one who noticed that.

Here's a few others that TV people haven't changed over the years.

When someone takes a picture with a 35mm camera (whether it's digital or film camera), you always hear that
same cornball, motor-drive sound effect. Most of the time, the cameras in the shot don't even have a motor drive!

Another one I find humorous is the "looking through binoculars" gag where the screen is black with two holes
punched through the center. When you use an optic like binoculars, it doesn't look like that at all!

Why do all night scenes in an urban environment have to have wet streets? Yes, I know they pick up the reflections
of the lights, but it seems cliche to use that when it has nothing to with the storyline.

How about the people driving down the street with the car in 'Park'? Almost every movie/show in the last 40 years has done this.

I think what is worse is radio commercials that have honking car horns or emergency vehicle sirens. These are sometimes so real that they have startled me while driving. I think they could actually result in accidents as people needlessly get alarmed, take their eyes off the road as they look around, or panic and do something silly that they guy behind does not expect because he is not listening to the same station.

I have faves, that I notice occasionally. A different plane landing than the one that took off. And a plane calling for landing instructions on runway 44

Definitely! When I listened to live radio, I hated that. You don't want to hear phony sirens when you're driving. Now I listen to XM and music from a USB drive.
