Why not simply hang the strap over your left shoulder instead of your injured right shoulder. Will take some time getting used to, but after a while it will feel quite natural.

I will give that a shot until I buy a new strap. Ultimately, however, I would like something that would distribute the weight more evenly.

I use the black rapid sport and have been very pleased with it. I carry a d750 and it is very comfortable to wear all day without any fatigue. the only compliant I would have is that you need to remove the strap holder in order to use a tripod, but this has not been a major problem.

I also use the BR strap, but I use the Cross Shot. I also use a plate that allows attachment to my tripod without removing the strap or stud. Also the use of a BR wrist is literally just a snap away.

You might also consider an OP/TECH binocular harness.

I have peak design slide and like it a lot. I have never really used the slide bit but find the weight distribution when the strap is across the body perfect for me. If I am bundled up in snow or in really cold and wet conditions the length is great to allow for extra clothes.

Recently, I reinjured my right shoulder, just slightly. Probably a recurrance of a previous rotator cuff injury. Hopefully, with proper exercise, heat, and rest (Ha Ha!), it will get better. Yesterday I was walking around with my camera (around my wrist) and after about 45 minutes I realized the strain had done a number on my shoulder, which ached the rest of the day. Obviously, I need a good camera strap that will evenly distribute the camera weight. I have done some research on line. There are a number of straps that seem to fit the bill reasonabl well.

Black Rapid appears to get the most positive reviews, and is also the most expensive. The classic, or curved strap (RS-7) seems to be the standard model. Then there is the sport model, Sport R, which is the standard model with he addition of a Brad, an under arm support strap which adds additional stability.

Op Tech also gets good reviews, and is the most reasonably priced. It appears to have a zillion configurations, and I can't tell if it has one configuration with the additional underarm support. The camera appears to attach to the Op Tech with a connector attached to the same traditional metal ring that the Canon strap attaches to. This seems to be a plus compared to the Black Rapid, which attaches to the tripod adapater.

The Carry Speed FS Slim also gets good reviews. However, it attaches to the camera via a plate that is screwed into the tripod adapter. This seems to be something else that can come loose and fall off.

There are a number of others (Indigo Marble, Cams pro strap, Peak Design Slide, and more) which are all very similar.
And, there are any number of Black Rapid kock offs, which look just like the black rapid but are far less expensive. Most of these do not seem to be reviewed, and who knows what you are getting? Who knew buing a camera strap could be so confusing?

I would appreciate recommendations from any of you who have used one or more of these straps, (including the under arm support) or any other that you would cosider a good and comfortable strap.
Thanks.
Steve

Coincidentally, have a recurring rotator cuff muscle injury and consequently I have been using a Cotton Carrier for many months. Previous to that I used Op Tech straps. Though very good, and I go back to using them in the late 80's and early 90's, they do not compare to the Cotton Carrier, which is a yolk/harness and distributes the weight far better. It is, however, a relatively expensive bit of kit. I statred off with a Chinese rip off bought through Amazon. It was very good, actually, but the weight of my 300mm f2.8 (2.55 kg) broke a piece off the retaining lug. No such problem with the Cotton Carrier. But, if you do not have a lens which weighs more than about 1.6 Kg a cheaper copy should be fine.

I have used an Optech "slider" for years. I have absolutely no complaints. Good luck.

Use Black Rapid sport but have removed the under arm strap when on long hikes. For my street walking I switch to a Black Rapid wrist strap. Works well on D7100 w/battery grip.

You are describing mostly shoulder straps, if this is the case and the shoulder strap I am assuming will run over your GOOD shoulder, eventually it will effect the BAD shoulder. Consider the spider holster system. It goes around your waist and looks like the old gun holster of old but I have shoulder problems and this spider system works for me, check it out at B&H.

I use several products from the OpTech system and have been very happy with both the comfort and security for the camera.

I tried several before I settled on the OP/TECH. They have lots of bits and pieces that you can combine to get the results you want, and the shoulder pads come in different colors. I use a red one for my IR camera. All their products snap together with the same connectors. No regrets.

I'd recommend the Optech. Nice and wide with neoprene padding.
It can be configured in a number of different ways.
Go to their website and watch their videos.
BTW
Good luck with your shoulder......I've felt your pain.
