Has anyone used PayPal to buy from Adorama or know if they accept Payment from PayPal (I know I can call Adorama). Here is the thing I have made an offer to
Greentoe (Has been mention on here before) to purchase a Sigma 150-600mm (sport) lens which Adorama has accepted, but are not set up at this time to accept PayPal as per Greentoe. Now Greentoe needs me to pay with a standard credit card. I would like a comments from Hog members. I am overly suspicious sometimes!
Oh the offer that was accepted was $1475.00 that's not bad! Thanks to all
Doug

Get a PayPal debit/credit card linked to your account. That way you use it as a credit card (Mastercard) and it won't matter if a merchant accepts PayPal. I use mine to buy everything.

I have bought thru Greentoe. They are on the up and up. The lens will NOT be gray market. I doubt Adorama sells gray. This gift horse has all its teeth.

A few notes on Pay Pal. Pay Pal is owned by ebay and in all honesty is just another middle man running prices up on all of us. You get nothing more from Pay Pal that you don't get from your credit card when it comes to protection, but you can get more trouble. Pay Pal does charge a fee and it is paid by the seller.

I refuse to have anything to do with Pay Pal. Several years ago I purchased an eye piece for my telescope and the transaction went through Pay Pal; it was advertised as in like new condition. When I got it, the front element had so many scratches on it than it had clear glass; it was obvious a child went to town on it with a sharp object; it was totally destroyed. Pay Pal made the seller refund my money and put it in my Pay Pal account, then refused to give the money back to me. They tried to steal my funds. It took a complaint to the Attorney General and almost two years to get my money back. Personally I will never allow a transaction through them again.

And be careful if buying from ebay. I have a purchase right now that I did on ebay and I clicked to have it done with the credit card, not Pay Pal. Ebay ran it through Pay Pal (this way they get to scam the seller for a double fee). When I called they claimed that the seller demanded all their purchases go through Pay Pal. I told them the site did not state that; they checked the site themselves and verified that it was not stated on the site. I demanded they remove it from Pay Pal and ebay refused to do so. The charge is under dispute with my credit card and it has been turned into the consumer protection bureau as well. Ebay could end up with charges of double dipping their sellers; a fee from ebay, then a fee form Pay Pal.

Why are you complaining? I used to sell a lot on ebay. Not so much now that I moved to Ohio. As a seller, you know exactly what the fees are and who you are paying them to. If you don't like it, don't sell on ebay.

I don't sell on ebay, for your information! I have a right to have my purchases processed as I dictate. Done another way is fraud, if you care to know!

I don't know what all the fuss is about, but I've never had a problem with PayPal.

The fuss is that most of the respondents have not followed the thread and are just shooting from the hip into oblivion. LOL!!

Sometimes when you see ignorant statements being made, you just have to respond, even if it is off topic.

I think that using eBay has a lot to do with what one is looking for. I would not to optical stuff at all, because you have to take someones word for quality, etc. But another time I was looking for an item that would be very old but not antique significant for a relatives birthday. As luck would have it there was one and the price was reasonable. So for eBay, it depends.

Some people should follow their own advise and mind their own business too!

Greentoe makes a point of saying that their merchandise is not gray market and carries an USA warranty. I don't understand why Adorama won't accept Pay Pal. It maybe that Greentoe won't accept Pay Pal.

I was looking at a used lens on Adorama the other day. They certainly do accept PayPal.
