Welcome from another George
Welcome from Chatsworth, SFV. I have the Sony A7 II and love it. Still learning all it's potential. I photograph mostly dancers and scenic and just returned from a trip to Lake Tahoe, Bodie, Mono Lake and Mammoth. Feel free to contact me. Ted Herman
George. This Sunday from 11:00 am to 6:00 PM there will be an arts and Crafts show in Chatsworth along Devonsire Blvd, between Topanga Canyon and Owensmouth. About 30 artists, 3 bands and a "Taste of Chatsworth". Would be a good time to stop by and meet some of the local artists. I'll be exhibiting. Hope to see you and the family. We can talk shop a little. Ted Herman
Welcome to UHH George, glad you found us. You have selected some good camera makers. I think all will serve your purpose. I suggest you go to your camera store after doing some research. See how the models you selected feel in your hands. Does it fit within your budget? Does the camera fit the type of photography you like? Check the control layout, is it comfortable for you? Only you can answer these questions and when you do you will find the model right for what you want to photograph.
Have fun, learn and enjoy the forum.

Welcome to the wonderful world of digital. There are so many new cameras out there that it does make the selection hard. I guess the first thing is to decide what kind of photography you desire to take. The next thing is to find a camera store in your area so you can see how the camera fits in your hands. Are all of the buttons reachable and in a comfortable place for your hands and fingers. Once you have your camera go out and have fun.
Welcome to the Hog George. I grew up in Granada Hills and went to Pierce Jr College (at least it was at that time). I always tell people 'I was a Valley Girl before they got stupid'. Marriage has now brought me to Texas and have been here over 30 years.

Welcome to the HOG George.
Enjoy.
I trust you have seen the new Pentax K1!
Holy crap!!! I missed a whole second page of welcomes! Thanks so much for stopping by to say hello. I really do appreciate it. And now I will go back and read each post and respond accordingly. Lol. And no, Dave Kelso, I'm not done with Pentax just yet. We've been together way too long... Just a bump in the road. Take care! Ted Herman, gonna try to see you on Sunday. Sounds like a good time! :)
Hey Robert
I don't really have a budget. But I have figured out that it will cost me about twice as much for a new Canon (5D MIII) or Sony (A77 II) body before I even get into lenses. The Pentax K1 is priced at about $1800 and I don't have to rush right out to buy new lenses. And the K-70 (a possible 2nd choice) is about $1000 less than that. So I think may have to stick with my first love!
Thanks for the info, Ted. Definitely gonna try to bring the family out to that. See you there!
Thanks, Don. Trying to make it out to Samy's Camera (Pasadena) this weekend to do just that. Get a feel for each of the cameras that I'm considering.
