My Dad and I talk a lot about getting it right in the camera, which I feel is always best...but we find there's a lot of need for cropping so we're going to try out Faststone and if that doesn't work, we'll take a look at the Canon software that came with the camera. Thanks so much for your response!

This Faststone Viewer pretty much does all that he would need. first it opens the picture FULL SCREEN. Move your mouse to the left edge and a nice tool bar opens w/ everything you'd want......choose and sliders open up at the bottom. Once you move your mouse pointer away from the edge, the tool bar disappears so you have a clear view of your full sized picture. Put your mouse that the top of the picture.....and another window opens w/ the pictures from that folder.
The name, 'Viewer' is a little misleading but it will do everything he'd need, maybe at times, you also. I love that you are working w/ a full size photo. Enjoy

There is no more Picasa. You already have in your computer that's why you can still use it but there will be no more updates or downloads...Rich

Hello. My Dad is approaching 80 years old and tends to get overwhelmed by a lot of complicated photo editing software. I am looking for a free or under $50 download for an SIMPLE editing software that would be easy for him to learn and use. Something where he could just crop, adjust exposure, easy stuff. If there's too much on the screen he will get overwhelmed. We've been looking for awhile and everything seems too complicated for him.

Hi, Laura,
If you dad works on a tablet, a very straight-forward pp app is "Photogene"
Here's a screen shot; few menus and all quite intuitive. Cropping, darkening or lightening, contrast...all easily accessed from the screen shown.

Wow, that's just what type of screen offerings I am looking for. Simple and straight forward. Love this! Now he'll want to buy a tablet...ugh! LOL
