So nice to see an interested child!
We have a young granddaughter (3) who is interested as well!

JoAnne, we kept her first "good" photo. She's really too young for the camera, but she's a pretty sharp kid for 2 1/2 years. If you will notice, the camera has two viewfinders. Most little kids have a hard time with looking through only one eye, so the manufacturer, wisely, made it so that a child can look through it with both eyes open as if it were a pair of binoculars or a View Master. It still took a little bit of work to get her to actually make sure she could see the subject before she presses the shutter, and to make sure she isn't moving. At first, she just liked pressing the shutter button and hearing the fake electronic shutter noise built into the kid's camera. Now she likes seeing her pictures. As for how she sees the world, it is from a very low perspective that I can't achieve any more. But this has been fun so far and we will continue to encourage her to use her camera.

She does come down with GAS, but it has more to do with diapers than cameras😆

I have attached a picture of my granddaughter taking pictures with her new camera. I just bought her a kid's camera that actually takes 1.3 megapixel pictures. She sees me and my daughter taking pictures all the time, and she's always pretending to take pictures, so I figured she should have a real camera. She is only 2 1/2 years old and the camera is rated for 3-8 years old, but she's getting the hang of it and is actually figuring out how to capture the image she's looking at. She's no artist yet, but who knows? She already loves being a "photographer".

I have always been glad an older cousin gave me a camera when I was six years old. Photography has given me much pleasure and satisfaction for the last eighty-one years. You should be happy that your little granddaughter seems capable of handling the little "kid's camera." Children are not all alike - some are quite precocious and your granddaughter quite likely is blessed that way. In my time I have often been amazed at what children can do when properly advised and directed. Give your granddaughter all the encouragement you can. She - and you - will be the better for it. Good luck.

I never understood what grandparents felt until I became one. There is nothing like it! I think it's a combination of things - these are your children's children and somehow the love of your children is amplified when projected onto their children. But I think the biggest thing, like I have said in previous posts, is that we were so busy while raising our children, trying to keep our heads above water, keep the kids healthy and safe, worrying about being good parents, etc. that we didn't have the time to step back and calmly enjoy them. But, as grandparents, we are in a better, calmer place and we can see and enjoy what we overlooked as parents.
