Starting Them Young

I have attached a picture of my granddaughter taking pictures with her new camera. I just bought her a kid's camera that actually takes 1.3 megapixel pictures. She sees me and my daughter taking pictures all the time, and she's always pretending to take pictures, so I figured she should have a real camera. She is only 2 1/2 years old and the camera is rated for 3-8 years old, but she's getting the hang of it and is actually figuring out how to capture the image she's looking at. She's no artist yet, but who knows? She already loves being a "photographer".

start em young, when I was young I wanted to be a photographer. parents said it was a bad idea and photographers didnt make enough to live on.
I wish I had stuck with it back then.

so maybe she'll grow up to be a famous photographer, I hope so.

Good for her starting out on the great photographic journey. Wait 'til next week when she asks you to get her a D5...

She's looks really cute holding the 1.3 megapixels camera. If she continues to show interest, she will want an upgrade, as we grownups like to have.

My daughter is collecting all the "good" shots she takes (meaning the ones that are in focus and you can see what she was shooting) and she is going to load them into an electronic picture frame so she can see her "art" all the time. Hopefully, she will remain interested and I will be more than happy to buy her an upgrade when the time is right!

Creating precious memories! Good for you. That is what grandparents are for.

I don't know if the memories are for her or for me, but I figured out what grandparents are for. As a parent, you are overwhelmed with just keeping up with everyday life and, often overwhelmed financially. As a grandparent, you can step back and calmly see the bigger picture and fill in some areas that the parents are too busy to see or get to. Hopefully, you can also afford to kick in a few little extras that might be more difficult for the parents to afford. So a grandparent offers unconditional love while plugging the holes, no matter how small, in their granchild's life.

Never too young - good for you starting her off with a useful camera - of course as she progresses - you will have 'increase' your investment . Bet she comes up with some surprising images and look forward to seeing them on the HOG.

Ira, you just defined a grandparents mission in life. I thank you for the definition and a living example of it in use.
