win 10 problems - can you expand on this ? what problems
I have resisted Windows 10 for months, putting up with their invasive pop-up screens. Now, my computer has been taken over by MS, without my permission. I was on the computer when it happened, at 10:49 pm, Saturday. There was a blink on my screen where I was working and I was suddenly on my home page. Things changed instantly. I had toolbars change positions, icons were added and changed in looks, and new search options appeared. These are just the first visible, immediate signs of the takeover. I am very unhappy about Windows 10 being forced on me, against my will. (After all isn't this MY computer?) I have read there are people across the country that are thinking of trying a class-action lawsuit against MS for this invasion. Guess that Gates got tired of trying to cajole computer owners into accepting W10, so he decided to use Gestapo-like tactics to force his program on us.
IMO MS' actions are fraud, mail fraud, false advertising, and so many crimes and torts you'd need a database to list them all.
FYI, one of the reasons MS is "giving" Win 10 for "free" is that it makes money via the extensive snooping built into Win 10. The data captured via the snooping can be sold/licensed to marketers without the victims' knowledge.
Robert, You should have 30 days from the time it installed win. 10 to revert back to your previous OS if you wish. Do a search on (revert back to windows 7) or what ever you were running before the win. 10 install.

Exactly, and to include more ominous data captures.
I warned everyone last year that Microsoft was going to attempt to load their Windows 10 in every computer one way or another.
Also, since I also have Windows 10, I can't find much fault in it. It operates just like Windows 7 only different.
reiterate my post - what are these problems or are folk just miffed that ms has upgraded on the sly. Bet if general motors offered you a replacement car it would be different
My old computer using Windows 7 had the hard drive die a short time ago. I found that it was cheaper to buy a new PC with Windows 10 than fix the old one. Since then, my trusty printer acted up suspiciously and I was told that my best action would be to replace it That ran into some big money. Then Word 2010 started acting up and hours on the phone with a trusted tech was in vain. So I had to buy Windows 2016.
Here is my candid suggestion to that arrogant, imperial toad Billy Bob Gates: go f*ck yourself.

Thank you for posting that.
While the upgrade information is correct, that's not the only way to avoid the upgrade--though why anyone would want to beats me.
There's a switch in one of the icons of the Control Panel that will turn off all upgrades and updates.
By getting as many to upgrade as possible, Microsoft saves a lot of support costs. Windows 10 is far more stable and malware hardened that Windows 7/8 or earlier. The only OS that might be better is Linux.
I did some more research and found the following quote from Microsoft:
The most maddening part is the reality is actually great news: upgrade to Windows 10 within the first year and it is free… forever. Really Microsoft, that’s not hard to spell out.
Perhaps the best effort we have had from an official company spokesperson so far is in a blog post by Terry Myerson, Microsoft’s Executive Vice President of Operating Systems. In it he states:
“We announced that a free upgrade for Windows 10 will be made available to customers running Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows Phone 8.1 who upgrade in the first year after launch. This is more than a one-time upgrade: once a Windows device is upgraded to Windows 10, we will continue to keep it current for the supported lifetime of the device – at no cost.”
Read the last line again. How long are most devices supported? One to two maybe three years?

<snip> If only we had a real choice of operating systems. I wish Google would develop one.
What have you been smoking Jerry? I want some of it.
You have a real choice of OS's, and Google developed the Crome OS.
Thanks for the alert. I may upgrade to W10 sometime in the future, but not right now, because I do not want to spend the time in going through the transition to it from W8.1. Meanwhile, I find the pushiness of Microsoft annoying.
