Went there. That is for Purchase or Upgrade - not update. Thanks anyway.
Waiting for cjc2 to respond. He wrote that he updated his LR6.
THE LAST CHAPTER: I uninstalled LR6.0 --> Reinstalled LR6.0 --> Immediately installed the Update to LR6.5 --> All went well. Clearly it was something wrong in the original installation. Thank you for all of your comments.

That's gonna take a couple of days, at least. In the meantime, I can tell you that you can get the latest software updates by clicking on that topic under the help menu. Can't go further than the version you paid for, but you will get the latest updates at no charge. e-mail me at cjc2photo@gmail.com so I remember to let you know what I find out!

My response was primarily for John F.

If LR 6 is 'buyable' who sells it, OWC? When did it come out - about the time of Photoshop CS6?

I think I know why uninstalling/reinstalling worked. First off - my LR6 was bought, it's mine. When I first installed it there was a small message in the upper right corner of the program. It said something like "Your Lightroom CC trial will expire is 30 days". I payed no attention to it since everything worked just fine and I didn't have LR CC. When I reinstalled LR yesterday, that message was NOT there. BTW checking on updates by going to Help > Updates brought me to I-Cloud and the only LR update that was there was specifically for LR CC. I just went there again and got the same results. I think there was something in the initial install that is not present in the current one, and that was screwing things up. Thanks again to all who tried to help.
Thanks for the link. Will check it out.
HDR works just fine in my "bought" version of LR6.

The only difference (that I know of) between LRCC and LR6 is that LR6 doesn't have a De-Haze slider (but you can get pre-sets that access LR's de-haze software which is in LR6 but can't be accessed because of the lack of a slider).
Where is that de-haze preset?
