Country Music - "Three Chords and the Truth."
Check out a group of four Army soldiers called The Six String Soldiers from the Army Field Band in Ft Meade Maryland singing Bluegrass music. Check them out on Facebook, and youtube. They have a cd coming out in a few weeks that has original songs.

My list for this class of country music (popular Nashville) and this generation of musos would also include Alan Jackson, Vince Gill, and Randy Travis.
Jackson is my favorite because of his rich voice, his songwriting and because the great fiddler Stewart Duncan has played on most all of his albums.

I think Alabama should be added to the list!

Robbie Fulks is the same generation as the others I mentioned above. Prolific song writer, great singer, monster picker and working musician.
He could have been huge but once you write a song called "F#@k This Town", about the economic heart of country music, you don't get much air play.
I picked " Cigarette State" because Fulks is unplugged, alone and with no place to hide.

Here's a song that we in Nashville considered one the best Country Songs Ever. Sang by the Great Alan Jackson who
himself sadly has retired. Alan did a beautiful job singing this at George Jone's funeral. His voice only cracking for just a
second during the first chorus. Alan then went on to nail this song copying Georges unique timing and phrasing. Both are
a dying breed of Male Country Singers of this caliber.

The famous quote is actually..." Any more than TWO chords is just showing off." sorta changes everything.
