 So you never had an issue with your Canon? I did and it happened 2 months after the warranty. I went on line and hundreds of people ha the same problem with lens error code. Sold my Canon and bought Nikon and never had a problem.

Mine wouldn't AF properly starting from shortly after I first used it. After lots of reasons as to what they said I was doing wrong Nikon finally said to sent it in for service. I did, and they replaced the AF system and adjusted something else, but it still was less than sharp so I got rid of it and bought the Canon.

Maybe we both got "Friday afternoon production"!

BTW, both the original Canon battery and a knock-off I bought shortly after I received the Canon are still working fine and I can't report any differences.

The term knockoff used here on the UHH for battries is in my opinion wrongly used, a good deal of battery manufacturers make these battries for camera company's so I don't see how thay can be considered KNOCKOFFS especially when they do out perform OEM products? Yes I'll agree some of the stuff that comes from the Oriental countries is low quality at best so do research and read reviews and ask questions.

Nikons, Canons, I use a Sony. And if they still made Kodachrome I'd probably still use my old Pentax K1000.

And me my Nikon 8008.

You are right; it probably is the wrong term. But how do you propose that we differentiate between batteries that are made to the OEM spec but labeled differently, or not labled with a name at all, from the ones that are truly knockoffs and and made by a totally different manufacturer, which may or may not be the same quality?

We'll seems to be the sixty-four dollar question, As I mentioned in the last post I made do research, reviews from others who post here on this forum and the manufacturers that create these battries. The Internet can of great use to us this is what I do.

The knock-offs are the ones out there that have OEM name on them trying to be passed off as OEM wasabi and other reputable brands are third party batteries not knock-offs

Not to worry, Wasabi will catch up. My Sushi sense tells me.

That's what you get for using Japanese horseradish instead of a battery...

Never had a problem with Wasabi batteries...I use them in all my cameras. I know you were trying to funny, but I wouldn't lump wasabi batteries with cheap knock-offs. I forget what brand I was using prior to wasabi batteries, but I had one once swell inside a camera, and it was almost impossible to remove. Thought it was going crack the camera body.

O.E.M. - Original Equipment Manufacturer i.e; Canon, Nikon

Aftermarket brand - Wasabi

Knock off - a product masquerading as another brand of higher quality. Buyer Beware.

Unbranded - bottom feeder merchandise. Buyer Be Scared.

My D500 won't work with them. Which means I have to watch what I carry with me, unless I'm carrying the D800E.

How sure are you that your Wasabi's are genuine Wasabi and not counterfeits? Wasabi is a good brand and I have never heard of any of their products having a problem in any camera. Could happen, of course, but the ones you have could also be fakes.

Who knows? I have been buying them for years. First for Pentax. Then for the D800 a couple years ago. None have ever been a problem. I ordered them all from Amazon. They work fine in the D800E.

I tend not to use the Wasabi chargers. I feel that the factory ones, both Pentax and Nikon do better. I am not sure of this. It's just a feeling.

You made that switch based on third party battery incompatibility? Geesus.

What are you talking about? Canon does the exact same thing. None of my Sony lenses will work on my Canon.

The correct term used in the industry is "third party."
