Thank you Dan!!! It helps when you love what you are doing. I have been in love with wood sense I was 8. My Grandfather helped me find what was in side of it. He was a very very good carver, and also did stone carving.

Beautiful work Erv, can't wait to see it up!
😀
Looks gorgeous! I hope you have someone to help with the hole digging and raising of the thing. It looks to be something that will take at least four men and a gas-driven post-hole digger.

I went and got a piece of Maple for the pole of the new bird feeder. I turned it last night and got it stained too. Now I have get it planted.:):) I made it 6 feet long and have to cut some off the top. But I think I will have to put it in the ground pretty deep as heavy as it is.
You must have a lathe with a really long bed length.

First, Erv how big a lathe do you have to turn a beam that big. Wonderful looking job on the beam though. Next, how big of a bird feeder did you build to put on top of it? Please submit the finished job pics when you have time. Good and fun job I am sure Erv!
You are an amazing man, Erv, multi talented.

I just got back from a mission to the local Home Depot. They offer a very similar posts, already turned. But they don't recommend them for outdoor use (e.g. bird feeders) without a heavy protective coating of paint which would cover all that nice wood.

Nice My friend, are you trying to attract eagles. That pole is a monster. LOL
Beautiful! The squirrels will love it.
Hi Erv - you must have a very large lathe bed to handle that pole
