Don't forget to leave some $$$$ in the budget for a decent tripod and head. Hand-holding a 600mm lens, even if it is a lightweight like the Sigma Sport at 6.3 lbs - gets really old after the first 15 mins.
And when you add the weight of your camera you are looking at close to nine pounds!
I have the Tamron and I am very pleased with the results , hand held is an posible with great results ! I have never been able to do birds in flight very well but with this baby I am very happy with my results now , and I am getting better all the time , I have had my problems with Sigma long range focus so if you do go Sigma the dock is a must!

I am looking to get a long zoom. I have read about the Sigma 150 to 600 sport and the Tamron 150 to 600. Most the reviews I have read say the Sigma is sharper at 600 and has the bonus of the dock. I have seen some fantastic shots on here with the Tampon though. I am leaning toward the heavy Sigma. The price is not a big consideration, but I do not want to spend more than the Sigma. Which would you choose.

I really wish that people that post on here would spell check and then look at the post before they press SEND so the post says what they mean. TAMPON. REALLY. YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS...
I am certain he did not do this on purpose. Some keyboards will change what you type and you're unaware it was changed. It other words it thinks wrongly sometimes. Yes, he should have checked before hitting the send button. We all knew he meant Tamron.
Although the opportunity to save money maybe tempting, under no circumstances should you buy a used or refurbished Tampon. Performance when do you need it most will be greatly reduced. Used Sigma, no worries.

I had both the Sigma & Tamron, but when the new Nikon 200-500 came out I bought it and never looked back. Sharper then the others and aperture remains the same throughout the entire zoom range. The prices is around 1295.00 but well worth it
Tamron and Sigma both make some nice lenses and also make some very bad lenses just like Canon, Nikon and other camera / lens manufacturers make both good and bad lenses. You will have to learn from experience (yours or others) which lenses by each manufacturer are best and worst. I have a Tamron 10-24mm zoom which is pretty good from 12-24mm but below 12mm it fisheyes. Nikon makes a similar 10-24mm that has No fisheye at any length. There are other lenses that Tamron makes that may perform better than the corresponding Nikon or Sigma.

If it frustrates you that much and you just can't see putting a sense of humor to that innocent mistake (? ;) ) here's a choice that might calm your nerves. Don't read the posts!
Deliriously yours. Tam"p"on or Tam"r"on advocate. Either one frames a perspective
