 Good photos, the tight owl shot is very sharp but too bad that branch is in front of him. If you don't have the capability to remove the branch I know there is someone here that will do it for you if you make a request!

Thanks nimbusohopper, I don't mind cloning, this one is going to take a little more time than others. Cloudy, Cold, and spitting snow at my place.

and diffractive elements ...

I wasn't aware of that, and had to look up what that means and what they do.

Thanks!

 ....Canon people know about the Diffractive optics from their DO series of lenses - but something totally new for Nikon . Nikon is finally catching up to Canon !

The Nikon 300 f4 E is one reason I would consider getting a Nikon body - just to shoot that lens ( and a couple others) . Sony NEEDS one of these for their e-mount ! .

Took these with no lens filter or lens hood, hand held.

The cropped image is fantastic!!!
The Quail image is nice, but really you are supposed to remove the feathers before putting in the pan :0)

All good - as a "wish I was a golfer" I like the golf shot but the second shot of the owl's face is fantastic.

I love the 80-400! And with the TC1.4 or the TC1.7, it does really good too!! I have been thinking of up grading the D300s to a D500.:):)

Thank you for taking a look Frank. The quail are really tasty, most hunters only remove the breasts. That pan is plenty rusty and holds up well to all the abuse the deer do to it.

The owl shots are getting harder as the leaves get bigger. The two owlet's have their flight feathers, so they could be gone any day.

Great shots, especially the quail and the owl. Look like Nikon nailed it on the D500. And the 300mm prime lens is a perfect enhancer.

I have a D7100 which when shooting Raw+Jpeg could only get about 12 shots off before the buffer was filled. The buffer on the D500 is great. Happy shooting Erv.
