One might wonder how close these MAP's come to price-fixing, which we both know are violations of Federal law, but are regularly practiced.
A manufacturer can set its prices anywhere it wants. If Nikon, Canon, and Sony all agreed to sell similar models at the same price, that would be price-fixing.

If you read Helen's explanation, it is perfectly clear. A rebate and a reduction overlapped during a period when the store was closed.
Yeah...mistakes happen.....move on.

Maybe if they did, you'd be a little bit more careful about monitoring your ads. And how dare you attempty to use observation of a religious holiday to excuse such egregious errors?!
Doesn't sound like an excuse...sounds like a reason to me. And what better reason? If they are closed to observe the holiday, their employees are not working. What's with the aggression?

Price fixing is defined as collusion between various manufacturers to set price on their products. A single manufacturer setting a price for it's own product is not price-fixing.

I wouldn't even go so far as to call it a mistake. It was an event that happened due to automated systems and it went undetected because a business was closed at the time.

I apologize, but this was a data entry error. We uploaded a Sony rebate for 4/24 - 4/30 at the end of March, then Sony announced a price drop which lowered the price and our system showed both the price drop AND the high rebate together, bringing the total price down way below cost, and way below Sony MAP.
Had we received only one or two orders, we could possibly have gone some way to accommodating the error, but the number we received made this impossible. In addition, Sony does not permit us to sell below their price point or we risk losing authorized reseller status.

The error was noted Sunday, April 24 at 10:16 PM, after the end of the first part of the Jewish Passover Holiday. Our Customer Service Manager was alerted immediately, at home, and at once he sent an email to every person who had placed an order.

I bet online customers worldwide were jumping on that "offer" like a German Shepherd on a T bone steak
This why I like to do business with Adorama, they're honest and if they make a mistake they own up to it and explain why, like in this case of an overlap of the store being closed and price drops vs rebates. If this is still a problem you can call Jack Gold at Adorama and discuss it with him. He is very fair to deal with.

I have to bet that Adorama is quite upset that this, and things like this, happen. They were interrupted during a holy time to deal with this situation which, I'm certain they would rather not have to deal with at any time. Given the number of items they carry and the level of automation they need to apply for everything to run smoothly, I think their record is outstanding. They are, and remain, a great organization, at least in my mind as well as one I have bought from for many years and will continue to do so as the need arises. Mistakes happen. Sure, if I had seen that ad and purchased one, I'd be somewhat disappointed, but that's life. As good as Helen and Adorama are to all of us, I've already forgotten about it! Give them a break here guys!

When saw the price, I knew right away, along with countless others, that it was a misprint. More likely, the actual price being $1398.00;still a good deal, but hardly irresistable. Ironically, had the advertised price been a more believable $698.00, you would have been flooded with far more orders

So I ordered one thinking "Wow"Deal to good to be true Sony a7 price $398 super sale -$700 well did anyone bite at this misprint, I just hate those emails that say product misprint! I am still waiting on my back order for the Batis 85mm lens? Any deals on that lens :-(
So...maybe you should not deal with them any longer.
Sounded clear to me. Thank you Helen.

I suggest you re-read the legal definition of "Price Fixing", which deals with "competing" sellers of the same product.

Perhaps the employees working were not members of the "Tribe."
