Question for Nikon users.
Mine questioned why I got an Olympus OM D EM10 but it is smaller & lighter & thus easier for her to handle when she does use a camera so the flak was kept to a minimum......

Mine is stubborn and sticks with her D3100/18-140 and occasionally will use my 50 or 85 for portraits. Wish I had her knack for composition.....

Every DX shooter should have the 35mm DX lens.

I use the Nikkor 18-70 lens af-s I like it a lo but i also use a lot of old nikon prime lenses that are ful manual but the results are very good. I'm using a 5200 body and am getting these results. This picture was taken with a straight 135mm Vivatar lens about 45 yrs old and considered one of their better models. it is certainly better than the 200 mm kit lens that nikon offers and you can get lenses like this for under 100 dollars in many cases. even old Nikon prime lenses are very cheap. You have to shoot in full manual but Hey thats what we were raised on back then.. :)

Men and their toys... Fortunately for me, my photography expenses are dwarfed by her clothing allowance!

Mine is content with her IPhone 6s.
As long as everyone is happy,it can't get any better than that!
But we digress... Back to OP's question. It would be helpful to know:
-Are you looking for an all-purpose lens, or do you intend to build an arsenal for the 7200? If arsenal, which lens(es) or focal length(s) do you most often use with your current gear?
-Is there any particular focus to your photography, e.g. landscapes, wildlife, portraits, street?
-Do you foresee a full frame Nikon camera in your future?
-What are your priorities, speed, focal length range, quality, build? Can you rank them?

Save your money, sell what you have and buy Sony. Better gear.
Thank you for your input but that really isn't an option.
My first digital camera was a Sony. Still have it, still works.
use mine all the time..took a hundred pics yesterday. for the price you can't beat it

Not long ago someone pointed out that kit lens that came with the last film Nikon was a super sharp lens even though it was made a little on the cheap side. It is a 28-80 mm f/3.3-5.6. I bought one on E bay for $20 and my wife uses it on a Nikon D80 and it works well for her. I see them all the time for under $35. Since your camera has a focusing motor their are lots of old auto focusing lenses that do not have a motor on E bay at great prices. If you don't mind focusing just about all old Nikon lenses will work on your camera and will work on A so you can have auto exposure. Have fun with your new Camera. - Dave

I have the opertunity to purchase a really clean used D7200 body for a really good price. It's just the body, no lenses. I own no lenses that will fit a Nikon body. I'm looking for advice on lenses. I don't have a lot of available funds in my "for photography" account at the moment, so I can't just go out and buy what I think would be the right lenses. I'm soliciting suggestions on what lenses to get on a budget that will compliment the camera and not anger the wife anymore than she is. Her exact words when I told her about the D7200, "what do you need another camera for, didn't you just get that new one a couple weeks ago?"
If it wasn't for the distinct red stripe I could have gotten away with not telling her. When she borrows one I always ask her, which one and her response is, the black one you showed me how to use.

Nikon 18-140 or Sigma 18-250. Latter a 28,35 or 50mm prime for low light.

It would be a whole lot easier if you used a 7000 series or three digit series Nikon, then the MF AI/AIS lenses will couple to the meter. Then you can utilize the cameras meter or shoot in Aperture preferred mode.
I suggest sticking with the Canon gear you list, perhaps a new lens for your Canon?
The Minister of Finance here recently received some Spring chicks! Her attention suitably redirected, a new 16-80 DX found its way to my D7200. Possibly my new walk-around lens!
