hi. i have some jpg pictures that i would like to reduce to thumbnail size to post on a website...anyone know what dimensions to put in to reduce the size to thumbnail size.

also, would like a larger size picture to pop up after clicking
on the thumbnail. any help..advice..thank you

First is there a specific size your looking for or a limit to where you will be posting, some sites put a limit to the size of thumbnails so it doesn't get cut off....Like FB's Profile photo is 180x180 px.
This is a quick posting method I use without actually changing the size of the original...
Zoom out to the size you want your photo to appear on web...next, in the bottom left corner you should see a percentage of how far out you zoomed...take note of it> next go to File>Export>Save for Web (Legacy), when new Save for Web screen opens, in the lower right there is another percentage entry, enter the percentage from PS (example 2%)...then click preview (lower left) if happy, save it, you now have a thumbnail without changing image size of your original. Just upload it. As far as 2nd question, can't help you without knowing where your posting, most sites I know of and if I were to do this, clicking on thumbnail usually opens to full size.

thank you for letting me know that.

E, if you click 'Quote Reply' instead of 'Reply' it will print the statement you are referring to (as above) so we all know who you are referring to and can follow the conversation.

The 'Reply' key does not send anything back to member you are actually replying to (unlike what you would expect from e-mail). It simply opens up a text window to type in.

Hi E,

I'm working on a product catalog shoot for a customer this week and that happens to be exactly what I'm doing. There may be an easier way to do so but I'm editing the "target" photo to size. In my case, it is 4" on the long side at 72 dpi, 75% jpg in PS CC which produces a good looking jpg that is less than 100KB in file size. Next, I save the file again for the "thumbnail" by reducing the long side again to 1" at 72 - 75%. That give me a fairly good looking thumbnail that is about 2KB in size. Then....
In Adobe Dreamweaver, I'm using the Window>Behavior function(s) to accomplish what I need - click on the thumbnail and have the target open in another/smaller HTML screen. Take care & ...
