I believe you need to find out how large thumbnails are on the site. Is it your own website, or someone else's? Depending on how the website is constructed, the same may apply to the pop-out full version.

Once the size(s) is determined, you can save a version of the image constrained to the proper dimensions.

I do not use Bridge. However, unless I am mistaken, all references to thumbnails here are in respect to how Bridge generates its thumbnails, not how to create thumbnails using Bridge.

If, indeed, I am mistaken, maybe include a page # for us? I always appreciate ways to speed up my workflow.

The only way I know of creating thumbnails in PS is using Bridge. The Tools Pull-Down menu has a Photoshop interface. (Don't have PS running at the time). In the Image processor selection will have a menu which will generate thumbnails. Photoshop will start automatically and present this selection menu for you to choose the files, where to save them, how to save them, etc.

Another way to do this is to download Irfanview along with the plugins. This is a Windoze only program.

There is a resize function in the Image pull-down menu. That will allow you to resize and save images as thumbnails.

Interesting.

Perhaps my method is 'old school', or maybe just the only way I ever figured out how to do it.
When exporting from Lightroom, I set dimensions for thumbnails (for my website, 65x65) manually. Then I save the 'pop-open' version at 700 pixels on the long edge.

I eagerly await someone to correct me if I'm wrong, as I know just enough to be dangerous, but my understanding is that 'thumbnail' size can vary, and is governed by the size allocated to it on the website.

You can go to any website, preferably one that employs thumbnails, and right-click on a thumbnail, then click 'inspect', and you will see a panel pop open with information about the page, including the size of the thumbnail. Applies to any other portion of the page as well.

You're correct, Steve. There is no "standard" thumbnail size. The image size is determined by the space allocated for it within the web page. This can be spec'd by the page designer, the page programmer, etc.
