Very much appreciate your sharing, even in extreme lighting, you did justice to this capture 👍

Beautiful shots, Vicki! Doesn't look much like a Night Heron, unless you')ve had a few. Then, maybe. ; )

When I was out getting some shots of boats yesterday, a runner approached, and seeing my camera asked if I'd gotten some shots of the Night Heron around the corner that was "in fairly close." A swimming Night Heron? NOT! My guess was that she was referring to this elegant bird. The midday light was a bit extreme, but I took a chance with the shots anyway.

Nice photos Vicki. Good call on the Clark's. So easy to confuse with the Western Grebe. More fine work here! I also enjoyed your fuzzy little horse post.
Enjoy the rain, Phil

Cool looking Grebe, nice long bill. Our Grebes in the Northeast are all short billed. First one of these I've seen. Nice catch Vicki, Thanks for sharing !!

What a beauty, Vicki, and what a pointy, unusual bill! Beautiful shots of a new one for me.

Love the second one with the reflections. I've never seen this type of grebe before. Very pretty bird.

Super shots...even if it wasn't a swimming Night Heron ;-) Now that would've been beyond super!

Thanks for taking time to visit this post Jan. I always enjoy hearing from you and am glad you enjoyed these. The woman was from "down under," so we can give her a pass on the ID of this one. :-)
