uscollegebuy.com is legit. The programs are quite complete. They are also the latest versions. Yes you must submit your school name, student ID card and I forget what else. Within 24-48 hours I received my ok to purchase. But be forewarned: They will only sell you a program once. If, for example, you buy a new computer and don't have your license code, you may not re-purchase. Buying Lightroom 3 and CS5 was a really good move for me.

i ha to get the same cs5.5 works lightroom wont its not compatible with windows 7

I might be an Educator/Student Edition. They usually go for a lot less but you have to prove you're an educator or student. Adobe is tough on that!. Be careful.

I just bought Lightroom 3 and paid 89.99 for it but it's the student edition. If you are in school or might consider taking a class you would probably be able to buy the student/teacher version. I can't believe anyone would be able to sell it for less but, maybe.

Does anyone know where I could get an older version of lightroom to learn it? Do not have a lot of funds due to disability and I heard so much talk about it, so I thought it would not hurt to ask if anyone knows.

B&H in New York had a sale 2 weeks ago on Lightroom 3.5 for half off. It was a 24 hour sale. Lightroom 4 is due out shortly, so those with stock of 3.5 are selling off their inventory. You don't need to buy an ancient version, just watch Amazon and the other Internet sellers for sales. The closer it gets to the release of v4, the more sales you will see.

Would cnet.com offer a free download of an older version of lightroom?

I use Lightroom 3 and I love it. The post-processing is easy and flexible (especially if you shoot in RAW). Betterphoto has an online course if you want to optimize your use of the tool. Worth the price although I have not used Aperture and it may be great too. LR has many easy plugins you can get (e.g. Photomatix for HDR) and it is specifically designed for the photographer. A friend of mine signed up for a photo course at his local college and then bought LR3 with student status (2 birds with one stone)

Drmgoblue, I think I might need to take a course on lightroom also. I use a Mac and have noticed that some of the programs to not work with a Mac, but I haven't looked at lightroom yet. Thanks for all the advice. Barbara

Ummm, this doesn't sound legitmate to me... This seems to be 100% pirated, do not register, no license???

I think you're asking for trouble! If you are risk taker, go for the gusto... Getting caught could result in some serious consequences...

Mark,
I don't have an older version of Lightroom (I use LR-3), but do have a fully licensed versions of Photoshop CS4 and Photoshop Elements 8, if you are interested. CS4 is tough to learn on, but I do have a Scott Kelby CS4 manual as well.
