I received an e-mail from Amazing Files. The subject read Whirl Wind Software downloadable outlet center. They are offering a full version of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 for Mac at $59.95.
Does anyone know if this is legitimate? I am new to all this, and right now I only use iPhoto on my Mac and would love to get something. Thanks Barbara

I'd read the specs real close; the cheapest I'm seeing it is about $180.

Have you looked at Apple's Aperture? It is running $79.99 at Apple's site. I went Lightroom because that's what we were using in class and i wanted to be consistent, but I like aperture as well. You might want to download the free trials of each and see how they work for you.

Be careful, Barbara. I once purchased CS4 for $250.00 from a site that looked completely legitimate. When it arrived it clearly had come from China, it worked the first time I used it, but the license number was not valid and never worked again. In hindsight, this was an obvious pirated version-if the price is too good to be true, it probably is. Always purchase your software from a reputable source-it is way too easy to pirate these programs, but they won't work without a valid license number and Adobe knows!

Follow this advise... Find a student, teacher or staffer to help out.
These education discounts apply at places like Staples & Office Max and Amazon.

If you are a student or a teacher, you can get great deals on Adobe software. BUT, you must be able to prove it! You cannot get a valid license number on student/teacher editions without verifying your teacher/student status to Adobe. Trust me-they check!

It could be "legit" but an old version. I'd be very careful. Think about this... if you get it and it doesn't work, then you have spent 60 bucks on something that is useless, as opposed to taking that 60 and putting it toward a legit copy with valid number. My 2.

uscollegebuy.com is legit. The programs are quite complete. They are also the latest versions. Yes you must submit your school name, student ID card and I forget what else. Within 24-48 hours I received my ok to purchase. But be forewarned: They will only sell you a program once. If, for example, you buy a new computer and don't have your license code, you may not re-purchase. Buying Lightroom 3 and CS5 was a really good move for me.

As mentioned before you can get the student discount directly from Adobe.com. They will ask for proof, a letter from my son's school stating he was a full time student for this calendar year was all it took (a copy of their report card also works).

This is a $300.00 program the Student Teacher program from Adobe is $99.00. I would say it is a 30 day free download or Pirated copy. Ask them this question "Do I register this program with adobe" or better yet ask Adobe if it is real!!

I Volunteer to teach 5th graders photoshop. I agree Lightroom and CS5 are great programs. I have been using the Eductor version form CS2 to CS5 and true you can only buy one Education program per School year. You can move them from one computer to another by going in and disabling that program and installing it on your new computer and just use the code on the program. The code given to you by Adobe to activate the Teacher program is only used once to activate that program number on the box. I just bought a new laptop and had no problem moving it. also before I got a second program for my desktop I could disable the one on my laptop and reactivate my desktop by reintering the program number and with out uninstalling the program and when I need to go back just reverse the operation. This is leagle as long as you don't have two activated at the same time. Adobe tech support can also help with the above.
