I like them. I know you have Red-headed Woodpeckers in the group, but what are the ones in the first photo? They are very pretty.

A Blue Jay, a squirrel and the Red-Headed Woodpeckers....thanks for the comment....

OK. Sorry, I was confusing the Red -headed and Red-bellied.

We don't have the Red-headed this far south, unfortunately.

New project, MollyMolly... they are frequently spotted as far as the Keys from Sept-May. Hurry! Time is almost up! Go look! LOL

The squirrels were eating seeds from my feeder and on the ground when the cat came from the right, hit the tree, made a reverse in the air and had his claws on one of the squirrels....it got away....and, it happened so fast I couldn't swivel the camera quick enough to get the squirrel in the photo....but, notice the cat's hind legs...it may have been the squirrel that was on the hanging feeder to the left.

I know that I will be looking hard! That makes me think back- when fstop22 was here, a bird flew by me very fast and I was mentioning it to him that I did not know what it was I had seen. Now, thinking about it, it could have very well been a Red-headed Woodpecker. I knew for sure it wasn't a Red-bellied. It's head was bright red and had me stumped as far as identity. Hum....

Lucky Squirrel! I used to keep bells on my Cats so that they could not easily sneak up on Birds and Squirrels.

Red-head has solid red head to shoulders. Red-belly has more of a stripy-ish thing going from top of his head down to his shoulders with mottled black/white wings. Should be able to see both there now.

Silverhawk--I enjoyed the series of photos. As a backyard bird feeder we use the feeders somewhat to amuse our ninja cat. She does not get to go outdoors.
I've never seen 2 Redheads together. Does this happen often? Actually, I've never seen the redhead at our feeders.
Is the Redbelly the same as a Flicker?
We have at least one Flicker pair that visit the feeder every day. Oh yeah, we have Blue Jays!!

Love them.... especially the bluejay and the red head wood peckers. and the grass adds texture to the picture. :-) No one has seen beauty unless they are from Virginia, West Virginia or Kentucky , that's my opinion!!!!

No, the Flicker is a little larger than the Red-Bellied Woodpecker.....maybe you can decern the difference in these photos I've tried to make presentable....thanks for inquiring....

Great shots. I was trying to think what could be feistier then a Blue Jay, a red headed woodpecker, a red bellied wood pecker and a squirrel? Oh, of course, a cat! Great sequence.

Thanks for your nice comment.....and, a "cat" , take a look at my grandaughter's cat "Lilo" attacking a squirrel.....didn't catch him, but not because he wasn't trying.....it's very short so you'll have to "pay close attention" at the end...watch that squirrel trying to make up it's mind to climb for the feeder over Lilo's head....
