It does beg the question, why move from Perris to MN? Inquiring minds want to know? Good Look. Visited there when I was 12yrs old. My father was raised in the twin cities. I've never been back, and I'm 63. If you read, I have a suggestion for an author that uses Minnesota for all this novels. Check out John Sanford. Really good!

I haven't read a novel in years, but I was always a huge reader. Always wanted to be a writer....there's still time for that. I'll check out John Sanford.

Why the move? I've always felt out of place, like I didn't belong. But since I am the type who grows roots, I've never had the courage to just leave. The perfect time would have been before my wife got pregnant with our first child.
I did do my research before we moved here. I know about the harsh winters and all that. But honestly, it feels like home to me.

You can buy grits in cracker barrel. You can grow your own but be careful that you plant your grit seeds pointed up...all else I'll send you box if you can't find any, PM me, good luck.

As a southern born country boy, don't knock grits with sugar and milk until you've tried it! I like them with butter but have eaten them that way and they were extremely good, especially if they've gotten cold.

Look for Polenta. It's the same thing only it's yellow. The taste is the same though. Red Mill products include many specialty items like gluten-free flours and mixes. Two of their bag products are grits and polenta. But both grits and polenta can also be sold as ready-made in plastic tubes by various makers. Usually near the bean and pasta products but sometimes in the refrigerator case.

I finally broke down and bought Quaker grits at Rainbow. I was looking for either one hour to cook stone ground or Albers. I'd had issues with Quaker grits in the past(bloating and pain)

The checker at Rainbow mentioned another brand....the next time we go I'll actually look for it.

We are still new to Minnesota. When we open up about being from California, we usually hear "Why'd you come here?"
We laugh and tell them we were tired of the weather.

I'm loving it here. But there is one annoyance. I can't seen to find grits. Asked in Cub foods and was told that they didn't sell grits at all.
To paraphrase Hanna Montana: "Grocery stocker say Wat?!?"

Every store I go to that sells grits, only carries Quaker. Help me out, hoggers from MN...where are the grits?
