We are still new to Minnesota. When we open up about being from California, we usually hear "Why'd you come here?"
We laugh and tell them we were tired of the weather.

I'm loving it here. But there is one annoyance. I can't seen to find grits. Asked in Cub foods and was told that they didn't sell grits at all.
To paraphrase Hanna Montana: "Grocery stocker say Wat?!?"

Every store I go to that sells grits, only carries Quaker. Help me out, hoggers from MN...where are the grits?

You could try most any of the Coops. If you are near enough to MPLS you could check the Riverside, Wedge, Whole Foods, Lakewinds. I am not to familiar with the coops in St Paul or the 'burbs. Up in Grand Marais there is the North Country coop should you take a trip or vacation there

I do not know about grits in Grand Marais but he is 100% correct when he says you should vacation in Grand Marais. The North Shore (of Lake Superior) is a very scenic ride.

We are planning on a trip to lake superior. Not sure if we'll go in winter or summer--I'd like to see both.

My wife says she can get them at CUB Foods. I like them with butter and pepper.

Welcome and I live in St. Paul. You can get whatever you want at Cub, Lunds, or Wholefoods here and that includes Scrapple, if you know anything about it. ;-)
I moved here in 1999 after living in AZ for 3 years, so I know how you feel. If you want to go private, I'll give you a ton of reasons why I am much happier here. Also, you'll need to be clued in on what's "Minnesota Nice", so you'll be able to survive. :-)

First California? Grits? Don't see the connection. But now that you in Minnesota you will have to switch to the long grain black rice which I am told is really the top of wheat. Oh yeah, their national state bird too, the mosquito!! Enjoy, I love their airport. Tom Hanks would have love it too.

Hey Welcome to Minnesota, Only place I know that serves Grits are Cracker Barrel Resturant's There are several in the Metro Area. Outstate on the Interstate highways that run through the state you may find them on the menu at various truck stop restaurants. in the mean time try the Lutefisk and Lefse !!!

Living (for now anyway) in the north woods of Maine, there are lots of things that I cannot acquire locally. The nearest traffic light to me is one hour away...so not a lot of shopping choices nearby!

So - Amazon Prime comes to the rescue, although you pay a premium for the "free shipping"...

Try: http://www.amazon.com/Palmetto-Farms-White-Stone-Ground/dp/B009HHNUUE/ref=sr_1_1?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1427281923&sr=1-1&keywords=grits

Another option is http://www.bobsredmill.com/corn-grits_polenta.html

You can buy them online, direct or via Amazon, or at many Walmarts. They are great!
