Went through the SS for myself and then for the wife.

Total competence. Very impressive computer setup (and I should know). Optimal queuing process. Physically clean and secure. I wrote a letter of appreciation for one employee; how could I not??

Try San Mateo.

I hate having to go to our SS office, about all the employees are native americans, you have problems understanding some of them and I do believe some of them don't even know who they are much less what they are doing.

Native Americans? What do you mean? Where do you live?

I hope each individual's SS number wasn't in the letter because that would mean that someone had another person's SS number and could use it fraudently (sp).

Fortunately, it wasn't. I was surprised that the man who wrote the letter to SS had not included his address. How did he expect them to reply? I think he had written to them before about getting a card, and this was a follow-up.

Notice his location is Farmington, New Mexico. This is the four-corners area where there are indian reservations.

Did you just walk in, or did you have to make an appointment?

That's a shame. They're taking jobs away from illegal aliens. :D

Jerry, appointment gets instant competent service; walk-ins are also served, just like CA DMV.

When we lived in California many years ago, there was only one month for renewing license plates. Fortunately, that has changed. We've lived in Missouri since 1973.

When we bought cars in California and went to register them, we didn't have to come up with the taxes. It was added in somehow to what we owed on the car. It isn't done that way in Missouri. When you go to register a car bought in Missouri, you have to pay the sales tax right then. It was very shocking when we bought our first car in Missouri in 1978 and had to come up with the sales tax on the spot.

I like California's way better. Much easier on the budget. I think Illinois does it the same as California. Not sure.
