AND - regarding the dentist office waiting room:

When I had a private practice (Family Medicine) some of my wonderful patients would bring magazines from home for my waiting room (without asking or even letting me know), in spite of my best efforts to keep a good assortment of current magazines available. I would have to wander the waiting room at least once every two weeks to get rid of 2-year old Sports Illustrated, 5-year-old computer magazines, etc.

I subscribed to Arizona Highways for the waiting room because they are timeless. Their beautiful photos and historical stories are always enjoyable!

Well, from the perspective of a traffic engineer, I have to say that was disappointing ... don't get me wrong, the photos were great, but where are the pictures of highways? Just sitting down at my desk to start my day and could have used a couple of nice road pics to get my brain into gear :)

Great publication. Doesn't seem like it was that long ago that they were "militant" anti-digital folks. Times have changed.

Sitting in the dentist office today, I picked up my first copy ever of Arizona Highway. Probably a recent addition, but I didn't get the date. But the photography was some of the best I've ever seen -- maybe THE best. They had this one spread on Sedona and I wished I had copied down the photographer's name. Clearly a step above!

They do offer a number of photo workshops also.

Do you remember the front cover?

Yes I do -- A scenic shot of what looks like a Rimrock in Sedona, shot through some trees. Might have also been a fast moving brook.

I lived in Az for 35 years and Arizona Highways Magazine is the best for photography. I have their calendar where I can see it right from where I'm sitting. Sedona has better scenery than most National Parks.

If you are coming next week, do try and go to Peridot Mesa on the San Carlos indian reservation to see the poppies in bloom.

Another one with beautiful colors and scenery is Glen Canyon. I loved riding through it on my motorcycle.

Thanks for all that. For some reason my internet is not allowing me to open attached links. Might have something to do with the terrible TSs and tornadoes that are moving through here right now.

Back in the 70s I suscribed to Arizona Highways, think I saw in in a dentist's office too. I had forgotten all about the publication until reading this post. Always loved the photos they published.
